"today in the bay's" christie smith live at san francisco general with an update on this ongoing and kind of strange investigation. good morning, kristy. >> reporter: good morning, jon. how could a man report seeing someone in a stairwell but the body wasn't found until four days after that report in the very same spot. the body of 57-year-old lynn spaulding was discovered in a locked stairwell at sf general hospital on october 8th. at 7:00 in the morning on october 4th, the man told the hospital supervisor that he saw someone laying there. the supervisor looked but didn't see anyone. spaulding disappeared on september 21st, two days after being admitted for a bladder infection. the hospital says that sheriff's deputies were asked to look for her four times. exactly what that entailed is unclear. now, the question, of course, is, who is this man. he disappeared before he could be questioned. he is described as an asian man in
