and so i represent the san francisco japantown foundation.ding member of that foundation. was founded in 2005, and because of contributions, including jack's, we've given away dozens of grants to cultural community educational groups. and in the latest opportunity, played a role in working with tom and his staff in connection with renovating the japanese teagarden. so we think it's singularly fitting to name the fey house after him and -- tea house after him and then in commemoration of his contributions and also the contributions of japanese americans generally in the city of san francisco, we think it's fitting to also have the placement of that plaque. so i really want to thank you for the opportunity to address you on this. and it's a pleasure, really, to work with the staff of the park and rec department. i complend tom for doing such a fine -- i commend tom for doing such a fine job working with the community. thank you. president buell: thank you. >> good afternoon. president buell and members of the commission and director ginsburg. i

san francisco japantown is really in the heart of san francisco. ere are not that many japanese-americans that live in japantown anymore because they were all evicted during the 60's and 70's and a lot were unable to come back. the 1100 or so are seniors, living in senior housing. >> in upper haight activities in golden gate park and the medical center have a big impact on the quality of life. let's see how the entities affect the haight and how haight residents affect the park and uc. >> haight ashbury neighborhood council is proud of the fact that the university of california san francisco parnassus campus is the only uc campus that was forced to impose upon itself and has maintained a growth limit, which is one of the reasons that we're very happy that they're moving to mission bay and that's where their continued growth will go. that's one of the real struggles, on going struggles in this neighborhood is dealing with ucsf, st. mary's, and other institutions. the previous three administrations have taken the position that recreation and parks dep

japantown home. police found bombs. a man is under arrest. >>> back to court today for the woman arrested after game show host alex trebek chased a robbery suspect from his san franciscooom of the the suspect says she was at the hotel as a prostitute and claims she didn't steal anything. >>> the city of san jose is moving ahead with tighter controls on the marijuana industry. last night the city council approved a few new restrictions. the number of medical pot clubs in the city will be limited to 10. there are currently 140. in addition, the dispensaries will have to cultivate their own product instead of getting it elsewhere. supporters of the new restrictions say they will allow the city to better monitor the club's activities. >> we're able to regulate the staffing proposal we put forward. >> marijuana activists say the new rules will lead to costco sized pot superstores and increased crime as well as more federal raids. they are threatening legal action against the city. the new ordinance will be phased in starting october 27. >>> sonoma county is putting tougher restrictions on smoking of all types. smokers who live in apartment on core doe complexes in unincorp
