san francisco side of the bridge, part of an expansion joint repair project. drivers were warned to slow down, and they did, and so did the drive into the city. sergio qntana is live in san francisco with the story. reporter: you can see that there are still signs up, warning drivers that onramps would be closed for a little more two months, until december 12th, for the overnight work, but because of that slowdown, right w caltrans is regrouping, trying to figure out how to get the project done without having such a huge iact on commuters. this is the backup on the top deck of the bay bridge this friday. crews were working on replacing expansiojoints but the plates crews laid over the area that would ray lou vehicles to drive over the work in progress started a backup on the top deck. en on friday, i dragged on into the lunch hour, this is not the first time caltrans crews used the plates but for so reason the drivers were not just slowing down. some were coming to nearly a complete stop before driving over and caused the big backup. so this weekend the plates were removed. >> we took a look at it and thought, let's go ahead and just suspend t
