m.t.a. and they go in front of our sweepers and pass out citations to people that are parking the wrong way. once the sweepers sweep past in san franciscou may park behind the street sweeper. we all know parking is a big issue. north beach hasn't been swept since the eighties because of opposition. but we are getting a lot of requests to sweep. basically our trucks are 10 feet wide. we stick the brooms out and they are may be 12 feet wide. >> there are a lot of blind spots when driving a large truck pedestrians and bicyclists and cars. and navigates this 22,000-pound truck through the city. >> we involve the public here -- to adhere to traffic laws. these routes were developed back in the eighties around the capability of the sweeper. things have changed since then so we have to adapt. luckily, public works is embracing technology and working on a system to alter our maps. this is literally cut and paste -- cut and paste. we will have a computer program soon that will be able to alter the maps and be updated instantly. we will have tablets in the checks for all of the maps. we will send a broom wherever it needs to go and he has the inf

san francisco bay area rapid transit district and the san francisco municipal transportation agency to remain operational in light of operational and budget declines due to covid-19 and to affirm the role that b.a.r.t. and the m.t.a. play in transporting people to essential activities. >> president yee: supervisor haney? >> supervisor haney: thank you, press ye president yee. supervisor preston and i originally introduced this because of the huge hits that b.a.r.t. and muni were taking during this crisis. the federal c.a.r.e.s. acts allocated $1.3 billion for federal transit agencies. this does not mean that we're out of the clear, but it does mean that the immediate needs that were referenced in this resolution were taken care of, so i'm introducing a set of amendments today that better reflect the current needs, including a clause referencing the new federal funding, remain removing the call for emergency funding, and instead calling for long-term funding that can restore and maintain services. you all should have a copy that was e-mailed to you, and i would appreciate your support for this new version, and i would like to move the amendments. >> president yee: is there a second? >> supervisor peskin: second, p

m.t.a. to put a pilot of protected bike lanes from market to 15th on valencia street within four months time. [♪] >> valencia is one of the most used north south bike routes in san franciscoit has over 2100 cyclists on an average weekday. we promote bicycles for everyday transportation of the coalition. valencia is our mission -- fits our mission perfectly. our members fall 20 years ago to get the first bike lane stripes. whether you are going there for restaurants, nightlife, you know , people are commuting up and down every single day. >> i have been biking down the valencia street corridor for about a decade. during that time, i have seen the emergence of ridesharing companies. >> we have people on bikes, we have people on bike share, scooters, we have people delivering food and we have uber taking folks to concerts at night. one of the main goals of the project was to improve the overall safety of the corridor, will also looking for opportunities to upgrade the bikeway. >> the most common collision that happens on valencia is actually due to double parking in the bike lane, specifically during, which is where a driver opens the door unexpectedly. >> we kept all the pa

m.t.a. and the community. this includes potentially a pilot program for water transit run in san francisco. we'll go to the next slide. workforce development. again, we've negotiated a $1 million package from the sponsor which will directly fund getting san franciscans in the pipeline both on the construction and the users side in projects geared towards the type of users on the site that we anticipate, including science and biotech. and here, you see the subject port property in context of the open space, framework, really, a system of spaces throughout the project incurred by this new environment shoreline made possible by this lease agreement before you today. we'll go to the next slide. and then briefly, a suite of community spaces. they're included in this deal, including a 25,000 square foot recreation center, that the developer is required to provide the conversations with the ymca -- thoroughly advanced conversations, i should say, and the potential of a new public library in the neighborhood. next slide, please. historic preservation, three notable resources on-site, all of which t
