the san francisco bike plan was adopted in 2009, a collaboration between board of mta and the planning department. san francisco bike plan is an implementation arm for our general plan and this calls for plentiful and high-quality parking as one ever of its goals. first adopted in 1996 and at that time the requirements were only applied to city-owned and leased buildings. the requirements were expanded on basis to city-owned and privately-owned garages in 1998 and to commercial and industrial uses in 2001 and residential uses in 2005 and hotel uses most recently in 2012. now i'm going to look at how our proposal would update the requirements. this proposal would include several requirements based on two bicycle typing types, class 1 and class 2 class 1 bicycle parking is secured, indoor parking targeted for long-term use usually by residents or employees. class 2 targeted short-term use, usually for visitors and can be located indoor or outdoor. requirements would require calibrating parking requirements based on the characteristic of use. for example, office uses will have more employ

that come to a grinding halt and that is not a fault of the san francisco county transportation authority. and maybe it is not the fault of the mta, but we have some union members here and i saw vince harris here, and they ought to know that when the san francisco county transportation authority meets, they used to be in the past a representative from the union. who know exactly how the moneys are spent and because you had union president come here and ask you how was all of this money spent and you ought to know it and the public ought to know it and the only way that it can know it is by having transparency and representation and here we have million and upon millions of moneys spent and not going to say wasted but a not a lot of how the maintenance building was built and the change that was done on that and i know that the change out is done on this facility and i know that change order is done on many of the operations and i have got, i have got the documentation. and so, bottom line, we need representation from the union, we need the representation from people who really know how the money is spent, so that we the taxpayers,

san francisco a better place. i want to thank him for his leadership. the leadership on the ground, i think a lot of it is coming from the mta board. but the ground that i'm literally standing on here is ground that used to be here for vehicles, and now it's here for people, for people to walk, to sit, to enjoy. making those decisions are sometimes difficult. they're sometimes controversial. there are trade-offs involved. but we have a very strong board of directors at the mta that has been making these decisions to repurpose, to rethink our rights-of-way, to reorient them back towards pedestrians, to make it safer for pedestrians, to narrow streets so that the crossing distances are shorter, and to really focus on the safety aspects of improving our public rights-of-way. so, i'm happy to have one of my boss as a member of the mta board of directors, jerry lee. >> thank you, thank you. i know that when i speak on behalf of the board of directors, we're really encouraged of the efforts that we're involved with in terms of being at the starting point of square one. this is a critical moment for our city in terms of the efforts of mak
