the san francisco p.u.c. is also partnering on the efforts. their prefeasibility efforts. they are early in the study phase. one is mateo county. it is called the prep project which stands for the possible reuse exploratory plan. multiple agencies, a lot of wastewater agencies are involved they are also looking at san mateo. there is a few more. they are partnering with the s.f. p.u.c. on its. in the range of maybe 16 projects. it involves multiple wastewater agencies. it is early in the effort. frankly speaking, we would have to figure out someone to mix this highly treated wastewater. it might be crystal springs reservoir. it is early in the efforts. that is one project being reviewed. a second one is one that is being handled by santa clara water valley district. they have an advance purified water project that some of you might have visited. they want to look at expanding that in looking at ways to develop water supply. that would include other member agencies like san jose which has a large wastewater plant and palo alto which operates a regional plant. we are looking

san francisco native and resident. i support the state water board plan because it is a trust issue so the p.u.c. and the water districts each protect their constituencies. thank you to the p.u.c. for watching out for my interest. because i am a p.u.c. customer. actually, my family and i average 12 gallons per day, per person. i challenge the rest of us in this room to try it for 25 or less per day. please. it can be done. you know that the fish are important but it's not just about the fish. there are entire ecosystems at risk. we have already pushed numerous species to the brink of extinction what about the delta? it has to be on your radar somewhere. so business as usual is just unsustainable. we can't keep growing more in terms of business or population. it is just not reasonable to expect unlimited growth when our resources are a finite, limited amount. so until we can actually grasp this reality, we are living in a dream world. let's just go to the state water board and to their plan. due to the uncertainties and other plans, you know, alternative plans are based on, assumptions and uncerta

time when our water system was failing and in -- in november, 2002, the san francisco voters really placed their trust in the p.u.c. by passing and placing trust in the water and wastewater system. and she spent hours talking about the need of our infrastructure and really showed some leadership and people really felt and really trusted her when she was out there speaking on behalf of the p.u.c. and so prop a and e passed. and that started the water system improvement program. one thing that i want to do is take pat around to look at the projects. if it wasn't for you, we wouldn't be able to do the $4.8 billion of infrastructure and we're also planning another $7 billion on the wastewater system. and we really couldn't do it without your leadership at the helm at the time. so we started the master plan for the sewer system improvement program. the other thing you did, you centralized our customer service operations at 1155 at the time. so that was something else that you really did. so, pat then moved courses, back to be city manager in 2005, which recently retired june 30. so i had an opportunity to go and visit
