i am the limited english proficiency liaison for the san francisco police department to mention a few of the responsibilities of the lep liaison. i am the point of contact for language services within the department. i. i advise on language access, policies and protocols. i oversee compliance with the department. general order of 5.20. currently we have 374 certified bilingual members. the grand total bilingual members, including the five core languages, is 427 and 2023. we certified 71 members. our department represents over 36 languages. the list of languages are listed below. as you can see on the slide, there are over 103 available languages on the san francisco police department website. remote video interpretation services through language line include over 240 languages, including american sign language. interpretation services are offered at our community meetings, including monthly district captain meetings for reference, according to osha's language access data in 2023, san francisco has 145,000 chinese residents and 86,000 are lep. as an example, a pairing policy with needs

very common fusion with members of the public so um, if you get arrested in san francisco by the san francisco police department, all criminal matters are dealt with by the san francisco district attorney . we handle all civil matters on behalf of the city and county of san francisco. what that means is a number of things. we provide advice and counsel to all actors within city government from our mayor. every member of the board of supervisors to the 100 plus departments, commissions boards that represent the city and county of san francisco. we also defend the city against thousands of lawsuits. so if you slip and fall in front of city hall if there's a bus accident if there is an incident involving the san francisco police department, we defend those matters. we also bring lawsuits on behalf of the city and county of san francisco, where most famous for litigating and obtaining the constitutional right to marry for lgbtq couples have sued gun manufacturers, payday lenders, oil companies, you name it, who are undercutting the rights of san franciscans and the city and county of san francisco. so now moving on

according to the san francisco police department, the traffic enforcement effort has already started and will continue to increase, especially at the ten intersections. the department has identified, according to a 32 page plan put together by the police commander overseeing the department's traffic division. officers will be conducting what the department calls enforcement waves, which will include saturation patrols at ten of the city's most dangerous intersections. each of these intersections has been the scene of at least ten crashes in the last two years, having, our sfpd go out there and focus on those streets that are the most dangerous streets that are not designed for safety over speed. those are the places that it does make sense for our sfpd to be doing enforcement to curb that dangerous behavior. it's a reversal of a downward trend in traffic tickets. according to sfpd data, the number of traffic citations officers write has dropped by 96% over the past decade. the department says it's partially because of a drop in staffing and new regulations. but supervisor rafael mande

despite the department of alcoholic beverage controls efforts in conjunction with the san francisco police department the port of san francisco, the i-team saw several people illegally selling alcohol outside thursday night's home game. including one person with a margarita making bar complete with multiple types of tequila mixers and fruit garnishes taking their profits. >> thumbing their nose at the law and the rules. hello, i got coors light. >> i got paper bags. you can stick them in. >> this seller, who did not want to speak with me on camera, told me a ticket he received last year was dismissed and that it's a slap on the wrist. does san francisco have the resources to be out there enforcing something like this when there's so much else happening in the city right now, close to a third of the police department we're supposed to have, isn't there? >> there is hundreds of officers who are eligible for retirement in sfpd spokesperson tells the i-team operations are dictated by available staffing and that the department is focused on hiring qualified candidates to make up a shortage of more than 50

offices across the bay area, as well as our allied agency personnel to include the oakland police department, san francisco police department, alameda county sheriff's office, and golden gate bridge. patrol responded to each incident and evaluate what was needed to remove the devices to take those involved into custody. at approximately 6:15 a.m, protesters blocked northbound i-880 at embarcadero. officers had to contend with 855 gallon drums filled with cement, rebar and heavy duty chains attaching protesters to the drums. the first lanes were reopened at 10:00 am, with all lanes being reopened at 1:15 p.m. seven protesters were arrested at this location at approximate a.m, protesters blocked the us 101 southbound on the golden gate bridge. officers had to contend with numerous, excuse me, numerous vehicles chained with chains concealed with pipes connecting the drivers and passengers outside of the vehicles. all lanes were reopened at 12:15 p.m. and 26 people were arrested at this location. at approximately 8:15 a.m, a protest blocked i-80 southbound at seventh street. the group grew to approximately 300
