san francisco police commander has been appointed as the city's first chief of public safety. mayor elect daniel lurie today announcing paul yep, a 28 year vet of the san francisco police department, will assume the newly formed position. yep. will be tasked with coordinating all of the city's agencies that deal with public safety, as well as emergency preparedness and response. east bay jewish leaders are expressing outrage after a hateful message was written on a concrete slab near the menorah along lake merritt in oakland. the jewish community relations council shared video of the graffiti, which was drawn last night on the last night of hanukkah. the menorah belonged to the chabad jewish center of oakland. last year, another menorah was also vandalized at that same very location on the sixth night of hanukkah. and with that, you are watching ktvu fox two news here at 630. authorities in new orleans are addressing the growing security concerns after yesterday's deadly attack that killed 14 people. fox's rebecca castor is live tonight in new orleans with the very latest from investigators. rebecca. >> mike. good evening. there was a major update in the investigation today. the
