clean power sf is san francisco's key way of fighting climate change by renewable energy and offering it to san francisco customers. i'm from the san francisco public utilities commissionthe program came about with state wide legislation in 2002 to enable people to take more control over supplies. i first heard of the program when the organization was advocating to launch clean power sf. what i'm most excited about, it's going to bring 100% renewable energy to my home and reinvest into renewable energy infrastructure and jobs. i had gone to a lot of street fairs and heard from the staff at the san francisco public utilities commission to sign up for clean power sf even before it launched. >> we learned about clean power sf because our sustainability team is always looking for clean operations. linkedin is the largest online network. there are about 530 million members using our site. in this san francisco office there's about 1400 employees working in roughly 400,000 square feet. >> after signing up for the program we heard about the san francisco program and learned they had commercial rates and signed up for that. i'm the co-owner of the new wheel electric bike shop.

this past year, the san francisco public utilities commission water quality division started receiving test for lead in the public school system here in san francisco as a result of legislation that had passed from the state requiring all of the public schools to do lead testing. and so as a result, the public utilities commission and the water quality team in particular was asked to meet with the san francisco unified school district to begin to prioritize which schools to test to meet that state mandate. >> the team that tests, we're a full service environmental laboratory, and we take care of both the needs of the water quality division and the waste water enter price. and on the water quality enterprise, we have to also have drinking water that meets all federal and state quality regulations. and lead in schools, we're playing a problem in remediating this problem of lead in schools. >> our role here in communications is being able to take the data that we have that we know is protective of public health and safety and transmit it, give it to the public in a way they understand we

michael hymns, director of the cleanpowersf program for the san francisco public utilities commission. before you is an action requesting the board to retroactively approve three resource adequacy contracts, executed by the general manager of the public utilities commission with pacific gas and electric company. critical to the planned growth of the clean powpowersf program. two years and five months from august 2018 through december 2020. the combined total cost of the three contracts is 13.7 million. through previous actions, the board of supervisors, to support the expansion of cleanpowersf. and limited delegation authority of the p.u.c. to enter into contracts featuring binding arbitration without going back to the board, subject to a very limited set of conditions. resource adequacy is a state requirement applicable to all entities that provide electric service to customers. and hetch hetchy power. to ensure sufficient electric generation available to the state's power grid when unusually high levels of customer demand occur. resource adequacy requirements are based on demand for

[applause] >> good afternoon. i would like to thank all of you for providing me the opportunity to speak upon my experience with project pole. my first summer was in 2014 as a college team leader. it was my very first job and as a first-generation college students, it was truly an eye-opening experience. it was through project pull that i was able to envision the future that i wanted for myself and for my family. i remember walking into 525 golden gate avenue with my heart racing cabin everest to be in a professional office setting for the first time. all of my worries were put at ease when i was greeted with a welcoming hug. given that project pull was my very first job, there were many mistakes that i made, but thanks to lisa's love and patience, i learned from them. i have the opportunity to work with lisa and continue with project pull as a project coordinator and is a city employee to help give others a same opportunities and second chances that were given to me. this past year,

residents in san francisco public utilities commission combined the retail and wholesale service areas average 54 gallons per person, per day and the lowest per capita water usage if they were their own region in california. according to sfpuc, residents could be forced to achieve 20% to 30% reductions. and residents in daly city, heyward, menlo park and redwood city would be forceded to ration less than 25 gallons per person per day. these are rates not seen anywhere in the developed world. such rationing could only be avoided with major investments in new supplies that have no certainty of being able to be procured, let alone being able to be procured by 2022, the date that the water board plans on beginning the state water plan. the bay area could be forced to live under extended rationing for years, which could inhibit our ability to build anything -- hospitals, schools or more affordable housing to parks. we have urged the state water board to take whatever measure is necessary to meet competing needs on the san joaquin and its tributaries laid out earlier today. thank you for con

san francisco public works is the lead agency, but we are working closely with four other agencies and city departments including the sfmta, the planning department, the transportation authority and san francisco public utilities commission. better market street runs from along market street from stewart all the way to octavia, which is about 2.2 miles in total. the project goals are to reduce traffic collisions, provide a dedicated bicycle lane. as you know none exist east of 8th street, improving transit operations in the passenger experience and then finally refreshing the landscaping and urban design of the corridor. we have a project structure that involves several different levels, starting with a technical advisory committee, which meets monthly. there's a policy steering committee, as well, and a director's meeting. the director's -- the five directors from city departments and from the transportation authority meet every other month to discuss the project and to make sure that it's staying on schedule and within our budget. our community working group meets every other month, as well. we've held four rounds of community involvement or public outreach. the latest round was held in march of 2018, so just about six
