this past year, the san francisco public utilities commission water quality division started receiving many more requests to test for lead in the public school system here in san francisco as a result of legislation that had passed from the state requiring all of the public schools to do lead testing. and so as a result, the public utilities commission and the water quality team in particular was asked to meet with the san francisco unified school district to begin to prioritize which schools to test to meet that state mandate. >> the team that tests, we're a full service environmental laboratory, and we take care of both the needs of the water quality division and the waste water enter price. and on the water quality enterprise, we have to also have drinking water that meets all federal and state quality regulations. and lead in schools, we're playing a problem in remediating this problem of lead in schools. >> our role here in communications is being able to take the data that we have that we know is protective of public health and safety and transmit it, give it to the public in a w

142 lbe certified contractors, as well as all active chambers of commerce and the san francisco public utility's commission contractor's assistance center and there are 31 plan holders on the website and 10 are lbe firms and based on the registered plan holder list, the project had interest from dredging contractors beyond the limits of the san francisco bay area region. because of the public health order requiring shelter in place was effective march 17th, port staff conducted its first prebid frequent on march 18th. this successful online experience gave us confidence to conduct the bid opening in a similar online fashion and ensure a public and transparent bid process. the prebid process was attended by 15 contractors, six of which were lbe firms. next slide, please. a highlight of the summary of the bidders requirements on this slide with low-bid contracting, the ordinance requires the departments to award contracts to the lowest responsible and responsive bidder. the responsibility is based on the contractor's prior relevant experience and for the purposes of this solicitation, the bidder's requiremen

san francisco. this site is just north of the ocean avenue commercial district and is surrounded by sunnyside park and ingleside neighborhoods. this site is about 17.6 acres in size. and currently owned by the san francisco public utilities commission, puc, and the city college of san francisco for overflow parking. as part of the city's landfill housing program, the city agencies work together to identify public land that could be converted to housing while providing both public benefits and financial returns to the city. balboa site is one of the designated public lands and this site presents great opportunities to realize the public land housing goals. it is underutilized. they can provide not only housing but many public amenities as called for in the balboa station, the site is in close proximity to the bart station and muni stops. this project is the result of over five years of community planning. and we are so excited to be here at the project approval hearing. a critical component of the community outreach is the balboa community the advisory committee. the brac. that was established in april 2015. in addition to providing a venue for public input, one of the responsibilities was to establish development and parameters for
