i did work at the san francisco public utilities commission from 2003 to 2012. under the leadership of now general manager harlan kelly, i witnessed and participated in targeted recruitment that was done in that agency with professional associations and so forth and we hope to learn from him and learn from other examples around the city where we can do that. we've seen whole professions that have either lost completely or really shrunk in terms of their number of black employees that participated in those professions. i like to really understand both the route causes and get to work on doing the hard work one by one, the recruiting, getting people into the system. i believe we have great leadership in the city and under mayor breed, i believe we're going to get the support to do that. >> well, i'm glad you mentioned some of the work that you did.
