the san francisco redevelopment agency, with many of us unclear of the ultimate consequences due to the shift in sacramento, what does a partnership with zone 1 and zone to of this project mean, relative to the overall set up of this project? >> to my understanding, and maybe the planning director can help me a little bit, we recently passed state legislation which allows the redevelopment agency to continue to exist. they have certain payments they would need to continue to make to the state in order to continue to operate. they are well prepared to do so. while new product areas may have questions, the project areas including trans bay that are already adopted -- will move forward as planned. >> i think that is generally correct. as i was mentioning a couple of weeks ago, there are two pieces of legislation that were adopted. the second piece does allow them to continue to exist if they make certain payments to the state. most of the plan is not in the redevelopment area. it does not require a new redevelopment area to be created. >> in the professional press, the amount of money sacr

the redevelopment agency for san francisco will most likely join in a state-wide a lawsuit against the state from doing this. as a city, we are reviewing our options, but because it is a separate agency, the redevelopment agency can make its own decisions. we have not included on our decision. we are working with the city attorney to get some aspects on the legality of this. we are fairly certain the redevelopment agency will be joining the state-wide lost it with all of the other major cities in the state. they believe -- and there are good grounds to believe that -- that this is not a maneuver taken by the governor's office. >> does that mean we are going to have a temporary injunction first? >> i think so. the national league of cities, as well as the california redevelopment association, have indicated strongly their attorneys have strong opinions that that was not legal. >> [inaudible] you said many times that you would not be running again for mayor. have you changed? with all of these campaigns asking you to run, what is your position? >> i tried not to pay too much attention to

the city of san francisco is more committed to affordable housing than probably any other country. we have redevelopment agency that, despite all of the difficulties of redevelopment agencies, this one put more effort and money towards great projects. this city has done a lot for affordable housing and human services. nonprofit developers in the city that are better than almost any other group in the country. we have innovation, skills, a commitment to the city. the real problem that is missing, what is mornini want ts morning, it is time for the government to step up and match the resources for the economic crisis we are in. we should be blossoming more projects like this. so that is my soapbox. thank you for the opportunity for enterprise to be involved. wanted to highlight is that the creation of moad is one of the flagship creations of the redevelopment of san francisco. it is housed inside -- what is the building? the regency, right? >> the st. regis museum tower. >> the st. regis museum tower, which is one of the development projects that was promoted by the redevelopment agency is what allows the city to -- and the development agency to give form and establish moad in the yerba buena cultural district. now, we are looking at governor brown oppose a proposal, which means that in the future, it he is successful, they would not have had the rebel the agency to promote these economic and cultural projects. it is something that has relevance today in terms of public policy today, what is going to happen in the future if we do not have a redevelopment agency to promote this development. >> yes. moad is the result or culmination of a public/private partnership that included the redevelopment agency and former mayor brown, and included the developer of this area. we had an opportunity to develop, create important cultural components of this
