a 7.20 in san francisco district attorney brooke jenkins is reversing her effort to change the city's sanctuary city policy. yeah, a month ago she asked san francisco city supervisors to make an exception to sanctuary city policy in order to get the federal government to extradite 2 suspects. >> from other countries and bring them back to the city for prosecution. jenkins says she was trying to get justice for the victims of a murder case and a child abuse case. the department of homeland security told the da that federal officials could arrest and bring both suspects back to the city. if city officials notify them when either suspect is released, which breaks the sanctuary city policy. yeah. so the da says she received a lot of pushback from community members and immigrants rights activists expressing concerns and calling on the federal government to make an exception of their own. >> this time i'm standing with the community, its support of our sanctuary city policy and urging the federal government and the department of homeland security to respect our sanctuary city policy that she did. wha

well, there, you know, the issue of sanctuary in san francisco's. >> status as a sanctuary city has alwaysalways had exceptions for criminal conduct. and as recently as 10 years ago, the board of supervisors amended sanctuary to create a due process for all ordinance that provides and the couple dozen exceptions for violent crimes and then a few years later, there were additional exceptions for serious felonies. and what it means is that people who have been convicted, who are adults who have been convicted of a violent felony or serious felony, who then on the second offense are held to answer by a judge on a probable cause. standard are ineligible for sanctuary. if and only if federal authorities submit a notification request. so it it. it is the case right now that there are about 45 different exceptions for felony crimes that include things like extortion and carjacking. and my point is the deadliest crime in san francisco right now. does fentanyl dealing it is claimed the lives of more than 1400 san franciscans over the last 3 years. it is by all accounts, the deadliest crime san fran
