longmore institute on disability at san francisco state. just to give you a brief overview, i know not a lot of you knew paul and worked with paul. he was in this room many times. and the longmore institute of san francisco state university is kind of a -- it brings together advocacy, academics, culture, and the whole point of it is to get people in conversation that might not otherwise be in conversation and to change attitudes about disability. so, through cultural initiatives, through academic programs, through basically changing people's minds. and the idea here is that you take something like culture and you get people to think about disability as a form of experience on a par with race, gender, social class, all the things we care about. if you can get people to think about disability differently and disabled people differently, then they will change their attitudes about employment, employing people with disabilities, or with service provision, all of these things. so, all of our programs with designed to do that, kind of that work. a

and juliet was working on her mba at san francisco state, and i was asked to sit in on the interview when she came to apply for a job as carl's assistant. basically, a very low-level job. but what i was i'd impressed by was shear passion and her commitment and her caring for community and for people, marginalized people of every color. and i sat through that interview. and when she walked out of the room, we had a flood of people from san francisco state, from university of california, from stanford who really wanted to work as an assistant to carl anthony who was then president of and chair of the urban habitat which was the oldest environmental justice organization in the country. i was honored and excited, and carl and i looked at each other, and we said, this young woman hands down. so, i have known her for the last 17 years. i have been proud to claim her as one of my mentees and somebody that i've mentored. i have listened to her talk about the challenges of working in the public sector. i have -- i have -- i mean, it's ironic that she's not here, because where is she? she's in

two million dollars coming up to two projects and in october of 2013, we received word from san francisco state, that it no longer needed prop aa funds for the street pedestrian and improvements project because it had been canceled and this left about $1 million for reprogramming for other projects and at the time of the call was issued there was a possibility that additional funds, a little less than a million could be available from the san francisco city colleges, and feeling like the pedestrian connector project, which was struggling in the face of city colleges ongoing accreditation issues, and we have been working with the others in the city college, of course to see how this project could still be implemented at this point, it looks like mta may assume responsible for implementation of this project. and along with its adjacent pedestrian plaza project and the details are still being sorted out and we expect additional, we hope for resolution in the next fao months and we will keep the commissioners apprised of that project progress, but due to its future looking more often, and there was
