this is anna, member of san francisco tenants union and central city coalition, calling to express concerns about the 10 south van ness project. i hope this project can work out and be part of the hub plan. however, the city has not yet chosen to endorse central city coalition equitable proposal for the hub. we are not accepting of the 10 south van ness project unless the proposal that infirms a -- affirms a commitment to equity and low-income black, indigenous and communities of color living in the hub is incorporated. earlier today, the commission took a bold step by acknowledging the deep history of discriminatory planning policies that have resulted in disproportionate negative impacts, including the displacement of black community in san francisco. we oppose the 10 south van ness project unless the central city's coalition's equity hub proposal is formally adopted into the hub plan. please reject any plans to do not incorporate equity. >> announcer: you have six questions remaining. >> this is jason henderson, co-chair of the octavia and chair of the transportation and planning committ

this is anna, a member of san francisco tenants union. echo the concerns of the previous speaker regarding having staffing allocated to deal with tenants. this has come up on a couple of cycles where we were promised a person to be devoted to that by director ram and now it's coming up again and especially since we're talking about displacement, minorities and people. we need to have somebody there to look at, is there somebody on staff who is going to look at is the building tenant-occupied or not? also they need to have training on rent board issues. no, no, this is part of the rent board and has nothing to do with us. no, it has everything to do with you. you need to have a basic knowledge of what the rent board rules and regulations are. so, please, have somebody trained to do that. also, director hillis, keep your word and make sure that there is funding for surveys to be completed on historic -- potentially historic properties because this is really important, especially when you're looking at legislation coming down from the state.

tenant. so i just wanted to make sure that as we're looking at these taxes that we're taking into account the financial realities of all of the neighborhoods of san francisco and not just uniont or the mission or downtown. that's it. i'm done. >> caller: hello, i'm a life-long resident of san francisco. i would like to also echo the previous comments that i think that it is the muting of the vacance taxes does not -- does not provide any leverage for tenants to request that they make a deal with landlords while the current crisis is ongoing. i do also appreciate the previous comment that it should take into account the different rent rates in different regions of the city. i think that perhaps a stipulation that perhaps takes into account the rent being asked or being charged should it be taken into account as far as the amount of tax being levied on a storefront that is vacant. i have no further comment. thank you. >> caller: (indiscernible) the leverage for tenants -- >> clerk: hello, caller? >> caller: (indiscernible) while the current crisis is ongoing. and i do appreciate the previous comments that it should take into account the different rent rates in different region
