the streets of san francisco, you can tell another story. you talk about the story of san francisco based on your own experience. >> a lot of people are focusing on the city, the crime and its leadership. the republican congressman tweeting, nordstrom closing its san francisco stores with westfield mall blaming lack of enforcement for rapid activity . this is going to run the city into the ground. right off the top, i know that the narrative can be from those who come from conservative camps that san francisco is in this psalm called doom spiral. walls are closing all over the country, theater chains are also closing, how much of it is politics and how much of it is reality in your estimation? >> it is 100% reality, san francisco is losing population faster than any other major city in the united states. and there is a new business leaving town almost every day, it seems like. that is not a matter of narrative or politics, that is a matter of reality. when you have a city, that has become very difficult for folks to live and feel safe. look what the citizens of san francisco have done in recent elections, they have recalled the district attorney, they hav

the commonwealth club in san francisco. it is expected to be one of the busiest weekends of the year in san francisco. the city is hosting the annual pride parade and festival this sunday. a lot of attention on public safety. san francisco police say the department will be staffed to handle all the service calls citywide. it is urging people, though, to report any suspicious activity. officers also advise people to stay with a group when on the street or visiting bars and clubs and keep an eye on your cell phone, your wallet and your other valuables just in case. the san francisco police commission reflected on the success of the pride patch worn by officers during pride month. that patch was approved back in 2019. sfpd became the first law enforcement agency in the country to authorize wearing a pride patch on their uniforms, sales of the patches and t shirts have raised more than $30,000 for homeless youth. the fact that we've been able to make such a significant impact. some of our local organizations means a lot. means a lot to me, means a lot to our members. the san francisco police department pride allia

the idea at least in san francisco. i've also spoken with the local supervisor who represents an area in daly city. originally the san francisco county supervisor was not aware that this idea had hatched among san francisco's supervisors, but he has since been contacted and said he is open to exploring the idea. there's nothing super firm or in place. it just remains an idea, first san francisco supervisor to suggest using the cow palace as a site for rv parking and tiny home said they had a lot of space down there that we don't necessarily have here in san francisco. the site is 68 acres, 15 of which are parking. so they are interested in approaching cow palace and approaching san francisco county officials to explore having this site developed with tiny homes and rv parking to address san francisco's housing crisis. kristen: can you flesh out their ideas a little bit more, on how many tiny homes are they talking about, how many rvs? who will be eligible? are there any concerns? >> i asked for more details on the number of rvs that people would be seeking to park there, the number of tiny homes, an

the most beautiful city in the world! >> it looks good! the campaign is called always san francisco. the minute-long tv commercial features some of the iconic landmarks and it is already airing in big cities like new york, boston and chicago. the tourism bureau expected to reach nearly 200 million people worldwide. this will be the largest ever tourist campaign by the city. >>> ousted san francisco dhs a boodeen will not run for re-election next year. instead he will be the director of the uc berkeley criminal law and justice center. he says given the current political atmosphere in san francisco city hall and the nation as a whole, this will be a more effective way of furthering his goals of criminal justice reform. he added, quote, consistent with my lifelong commitment to fixing the criminal and legal system, ending mass incarceration and innovating data-driven solutions to public safety challenges. as for what exactly the law and justice center will do, boodeen says that it will evaluate policies and communicate to the public what is needed to help keep communities safe. >>> an em

the san francisco park commission accepted a $100,000 gift from the estate to build a memorial in honor of pioneers in the area. the cityof san francisco contributed an additional $200,000 and the stadium was built in a year. in the 1930s it was home to several colleges such as usf, santa clara and st. mary's for competition and sporting. in 1946 it became home to the san francisco 49ers where they played nearly 25 years. the stayed de yam sat 60,000 fans. many caught game the rooftops and houses. the niners played the last game against the dallas cowboys january 3, 1971 before moving to candlestick park. the stadium hosted other events before demolition in 1989. it suffered damages from the earthquake. it was reconstructed to seat 10,000 fans with an all weather track, soccer field and scoreboards. it hosts many northern california football championship games. local high schools sacred heart and mission high school used the field for home games. the rivalry football games are sometimes played here. today it is a huge free standing element, similar to the original featuring tall pink columns at the entrance. the field i

what are the other things that i can see in san francisco. for that corridor the city and county of san francisco is pledge to go make a 6 million dollars investment. now what will that do? that will be street improvements to change the conditions to make the sidewalks wider, the streets more inviting easier to get on the cable cars. the other thing that it will do is provide support for those who want to start businesses along that area. we sources around tenant improvements. we're waving, we are waving fees when you want to do business in san francisco, anywhere in san francisco so that we get rid of the bureaucracy and expense of starting your own business. but in this particular corridor, if you want to conduct business, if you want to open a new store, our goal is to provide you the resource in order to do the build out necessary to get business going in this corridor. i'm really proud what we do with third and nucome there used to be a high vacancy rate and because we made investment, businesses that are for the community and by the community, we have seen those

arrested in san francisco by the san francisco police department, all criminal matters are dealt with by the san francisco district attorney . we handle all civil matters on behalf of the city county of san francisco. what that means is a number of things. we provide advice and counsel to all actors within city government from our mayor. every member of the board of supervisors to the 100 plus departments, commissions boards that represent the city and county of san francisco. we also defend the city against thousands of lawsuits. so if you slip and fall in front of city hall if there's a bus accident if there is an incident involving the san francisco police department, we defend those matters. we also bring lawsuits on behalf of the city and county of san francisco, where most famous for litigating and obtaining the constitutional right to marry for lgbtq couples have sued gun manufacturers, payday lenders, oil companies, you name it, who are undercutting the rights of san franciscans and the city and county of san francisco. so now moving on to the opioid crisis. i understand you've had some success in court, um, dealing with manufacturers, distributors and pharmacies. c

[laughter] and who would know and who would guess that they were trying to get rid of it, which i guess was a crazy idea at the time because they felt automobiles were taking the place of the cable cars and getting rid of the cable car was the best thing for the city and county of san francisco, but thank god it didn't. >> how soon has the city changed? the diverse of cable cars -- when i first came to cable car, sandy barn was the first cable car. we have three or four being a grip person. fwriping cable cars is the most toughest and challenging job in the entire city. >> i want to thank our women who operate our cable cars because they are a crucial space of the city to the world. we have wonderful women -- come on forward, yes.
