kevin quick, state of affairs officer for the san francisco youth commission. just a brief report from the youth commission on this last monday, november 4, they voted unanimously to support this hearing with the following comments. while we applaud the continued implementation of the sogi data collection. we urge committees and departments to consider concrete takeaways and action points to improve services for lgbtq populations add foz with the city, based on this data, we would also like to highlight the youth commissions history and the past work we have done with the department of public health and the human rights commission on the previously unimplemented administrative code chapter 12 and on lgbtq youth services sensitivity training which was enacted back in 1999 but remained unfunded through 2,000. while we commend city departments that are gathering sogi data, which was actually one of our first step recommendations back in 2015 on implementing chapter 12. we note that there is still work to do to properly serve vulnerable lgbtq youth across departmen

san francisco. on thursday, november 21st we're hosting a workshop specifically focused on input from the youth of the city. we're co-hosting in partnership with the san francisco youth commission from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at mission high school. and finally, one more event that i know many people were eager to see us bring back this year. winter walk is coming back again this year, starting on november 29th. this year we're going to shift winter walk from stockton street, where it's been for the last few years to grant street. it's a free event sponsored by off the grid in the union square bid. it will feature food trucks, vendors, performances, all kinds of great things to activate our streets and get people thinking about the streets, not just as places to move or dodge traffic. but as places to really experience the life of the city. we're sponsoring the holiday ice rink at union square, which is open today and will stay open through january 20th. and we're also co-sponsoring the winter park at the -- in the civic center plaza, right out in front of city hall for a second season. and that's running through january 5th. so we are look to do everything we can to activate our

organizations that we worked with the youth commission, the public defender's office, asian law caucus, strategies for youth, legal services for children and san francisco immigration immigrant legal and educational networks. and some of these organizations agreed to include their resources their phone numbers within this brochure. it's available in six languages. it's on our website. it's a little more difficult to find it on our website. when we redo our website, we want to make sure it's much easier. it's a brochure that we passed out at all our outreach. we have copies here as well. we have it in six languages. we are working on getting it translated into arabic. as i said, we have many brochures here. i've also provided those brochures in our materials to the commission. so that's one of the big things that we did that we rolled out, i believe in may we did that. the other thing we did was we made recommendations both to the police department and to the school district concerning the mou and we had collaborated with the youth commission some youth organizations on the recommendations we made. and we presented them to a subcommittee of the board of
