the beginning at 07:00:02am, this morning we had a 3.7 magnitude quake just northwest of the san francisco zoo those of us and western san francisco daly city in pacifica reported quite a lot of shaking. well, several 1000 of the rest of us across the bay, some minor shaking. then at 9.39. this morning, we had a 2.5 aftershock. so a busy morning seismically at least near the coastline. here's a view at the coast right now in half moon bay. with those clear skies overhead, wind wise, a little breezy at the coast and in our upper elevations enough so that we do have high wind watches for upper elevations this weekend. aside from this is very comfortable. temperatures are in the 50's to low 60's already this morning and our afternoon highs later on today. very similar to where we were yesterday, which is going to be in the 60's to low 70's, potentially record-breaking warmth yet again. back to a lot, john, at 10, 30 right now. let's get to the latest los angeles county where those fires are burning and first responders. >> have just announced that the palisades fire, which was one of the 2 bigges

this would be the explanation we did have a 3.7 magnitude quake just northwest of the san francisco zoolier this morning, those who felt the war shaking were actually in western san francisco daly city down to pacifica. most of the rest of us, some really light just brief jolt. we're sitting at center tower looking down at the golden gate bridge. skies are crystal clear. we've got another day with very light offshore wind here locally that you'll notice the direction that wind's coming from. we do have a little bit of smoke settled into the bay, although today it's going to get kicked out, pushed out of the region and staying away from us. so not a huge impact from the southern california wildfires, at least from the smoke here locally still do have high wind warnings and red flag warnings into the early evening for socal here locally. we do have our high wind advisories in upper elevations this weekend. winds gusting as high as 30 miles per hour. those areas of yellow and orange on the map indicating heightened fire danger, which does pull back into the weekend. so good news for socal

now, the epicenter of this quake was just northwest of the san francisco zoo, which is very close in to the san andreas fault itself, which you can see right there runs in yellow past san francisco. >> and then down right along highway 2.80. now the san andreas fault dives beneath the pacific ocean right around mussel rock. we had a caller right on skyline drive there in daly city right next to the fault line who said it was prolonged shaking and some actually pretty strong shaking, too. and then just moments ago, another caller in the sunset district saying much the same thing. so some of that stronger shaking occurring right there in the western edge of san francisco down through daly city. as far as the usgs is concerned, a lot of heavy shaking around pacifica too. so areas in proximity in especially right along the san andreas fault, really reporting that heavier shaking eastern at a san francisco, not quite as dramatic of shaking comparatively, but this is a 3.7 quake here. it was right at 07:00:02pm. i know a lot of people have alarms set right at 07:00am so may have been just a

the san francisco zoo is continuing to face an uphill battle in its efforts to host a pair of giant pandaschina. in an interview with the chronicle, the ceo of the san francisco zoological society said she is facing opposition from one of the zoo's major donors, who saye he isno longer donating and disagrees with spending $25 million on the panda project. she also said she needs the backing of new mayor daniel lurie and incoming president donald trump in order to move forward. lurie has said he is a supporter of the pandas, but is still assessing the plan to bring them to the zoo. >> new at six. the popular treasure fest is not coming back this year. the event draws thousands of people to treasure island the last weekend of every month for art, food, music and vintage finds. however, the organizers say they haven't been invited back. the treasure island development authority tells sfgate it was a logistical decision. apparently the crowds were getting too big, as development on the island takes up space where the event is held. >> this morning, lawmakers in washington are preparing for a b
