yes, i am going to be speaking for treasure island but i'm a native san franciscoan.nd i just heard all of this been waiting here three hours. i couldn't help but get into this different subject. garages. one of the most attractive and interesting aspect of the city -- of the orlede parts of the city which we all take for granted but tourists go gaga over should be definitely thought of very creatively. they are possible change of use to things like flower shops, assembly, poetry readings and art studios but even housing. example from sutter, from steiner to fillmore, there is such a place, garage was turned into a condo. but you go through this archway and it's all part of the garage. then behind it where you can't see it too well from the street, our housing and there's a beautiful courtyard there, wonderful use of it. i think we miss these garages. they give so. texture to the neighborhood. main thing is they were used -- my great grandmother used to reminisce about the stable boy. they were stables in the 19th century. >> thank you. appreciate it. next speaker. >>

i am a native san franciscoan and retiree of civil service. we have a wonderful project for the island and we are so excited to work toward this knowing the island will be developed. the treasure island museum which closed by the navy in 1997 when they left and stored all of the cleckedses. the museum association of which i am president managed to put on exhibits using other resources. we want to show the challenge of the island in the past to build it, the navy, just to save our country from attack and so forth all of it will continue with understanding what is a sustainable society. we have a model out there and our museum will challenge the visitors. in the past we hired volunteers people living on the island. imagine what we will do once there is a center and a population. we are the people that can answer a lot of questions about what happened here. we are thrilled the development is going forward as quickly as possible. >> thank you. we are almost done with public comment. >> i am here to tell you how jazzed i am about treasure island. t

we really fundamentally believe parks are too important to the quality of life of san franciscoans and recreational programs is too fundamental to the health and public safety of our communities to cut anymore. every dollar we've been asked to reduce and what's been happening in san francisco, by the way is no different than what's been happening in a lot of major cities with parks and generally, obviously. we've been focused on preserving vital services for those who need it most. by increasing the amount of revenues that we earn. and for those of you that art has been a leader in the park community and i want to thank you, art, for all of your involvement with the neighborhood parks council and there are other park advocates here. you have been following some of the noise and the noise is because we don't want to cut anymore. we want to earn revenue. we're open to partnerships. we've been working closely with the philanthropic community. not to support the fine arts but we have philanthropic support for some of our operating programs. literally we have a gift from a family foundation
