in san francisco. those populations are not necessarily distinct. so there is likely overlap between them. according to the agency for health care research and quality, there is typically about a 54.8 percent prevalence of obesity in diagnosed diabetes. we applied that rate to our san francisco numbers to get a better sense of what those distinct populations likely are. doing that we found there are likely 83, 249 obese adults in san francisco and 46, 909 diabetic adults in san francisco. in order to measure the cost related to the consumption of sugar sweet and beverages and the health impact that causes, we have to understand a few different factors. so, the first is the direct and indirect cost related to that consumption. direct cost would be the cost of medical care that are directly related to the intervention. so inpatient visits, outpatient visits, drug care, etc. indirect cost are related to work force productivity. these include absenteeism which is sick leave and disability and presentism. w

so, for san francisco sheriff's department, it goes into the inmate welfare fund. and without there being any general fund increase on programming, that's exactly how programming would be best supported for in-custody needs. any notion of us not supplying those programs because they would -- there would be something i think counter intuitive inmates through the use of the rate cards not going to fund those, then i would certainly welcome an increase in the general fund that would obviate that particular need. but from a state sheriff's perspective, it's a great lobbying effort to make sure that these rate structures do not become regulated. i stand on the minority of that thinking and believe that there should be true regulation of this industry. and i think this country and the state has some room to grow. i welcome the idea that we rfp this in the next round to see what that competitive rate structure, you know, will yield. but the results, whatever those results will be, will still pose the same outcome. and that will be whatever, hopefully a more affordable rat

i live in san francisco and we hire san franciscans and we benefited from go solar sf. that has been an amazing program but one thing that program doesn't aggress is the issue of energy efficiency, water conservation, transportation, the off loading of natural gas as a fossil fuel that we use to heat our homes and it also doesn't address how to pay for solar electric systems and solar water systems over the life of those systems and that's an impediment and right now the vehicle for that is third party ownership and investors group and wallstreet owns the systems on people's homes and only addresses the solar electric system and not how we reduce the natural gas usage, how we reduce hour water usage and how we decarbonize our transportation and those three issues are actually major issues with respect to climate change and how we respond to that, so we have a huge opportunity to respond to climate change and by engaging a local work force to do that work and skill people up. we have many old buildings in san francisco. many old buildings that would benefit from the upgr

thousands of city of san francisco has long walked their dogs for dog walking. they are imposing restrictions that would severely limit san franciscans ability to utilize ggnra and result in a shift from many dogs from the federal urban recreation areas to already over crowded city parks. board of supervisors recently unanimously passed the resolution that i authored to oppose this proposal by the national parks service. congresswoman jackie spears has been very supportive in the opposition to the park services plan and our federal representative democratic leader, nancy pelosi recently sent a letter to the park service asking the park service to extend the public comment period which it subsequently did and also take into account the recreational needs of dog walker's and dog owners at the g gnra. mr. mayor, do you agree that the ggnra plan goes too far in restricting dog access? will you work with the board of supervisors and our federal representative to encourage the national park service to alter the plan, to take into account of the needs of dog owners and
