as the city of san francisco. so today we are announcing the transition of the san francisco bay area water fleet to 100% renewable diesel. we are taking this bold step, and when we do, we will become the first region in the entire country to achieve this goal. let me repeat that. once again in the city of san francisco, we will be the first in the country to lead on the environment. it will help reduce our greenhouse gas emissions by another 60% on the water and cutback on the diesel pollutants that affect our air. four of the bay areas ferry providers will be making the switch to diesel here in 2018 and 2019, including our fire department, which will make the transition this year in the city of san francisco. i do want to thank all the ferry providers for joining with the city of san francisco to make this happen. this does not happen alone. it takes strong partnerships. i want to thank our fire department in particular, chief hayes-white and all the leaders that are here today on this issue. i want to thank deb

to this effort here in san francisco. thank you very much. >> thank you very much. now i'd like to call up lisa wayne, natural resources manager for rec and park. >> i'm lisa wayne with the san francisco park department. thank you for supporting and considering this resolution and i also want to extend a thanks to our colleagues at the planning and the department of the environment for all the heavy lifting they did on this as well. the san francisco rec and park department has been promoting bio diversity in open spaces by restoring and protecting nature and wildlife habitats throughout urban parks for decades. in february of 2017 the rec and park department received the support of the board of supervisors for the department's significant natural resource area management plan. this plan is a road map for the rec and park department that guides the protection of the city's natural resources and wildlife habitats and provides opportunities for human connections with local natural via recreation, education and stewardship.

i've lived in san francisco. our companies been here for about 13ers i can't years, and during that time we've all seen the challenges that people are facing out on the streets. it's hard to know what to do and sometimes you're facing the problems with homelessness. myself and my company we're lucky. a lot of people on the street haven't had those opportunities, and that's just not fair. just hoping this is a small step that we can take to help convert that feeling of homelessness and turn that into action. thought it might be helpful to share a little bit about our philanthropy story. in 2013 we wanted to make a little bit more of an impact in changing our community. we brought on a philanthropy advisor megan mctiernen. thank you megan. megan helped us get started who helped us sign up with the san francisco foundation, setup a donor advice fund. we started donating 5% of our profits to charity at that time. in 2015, we went ahead and joined something called the 1% pledge, which is an organization that encourage

san francisco has long been on the forefront of the historical, it was in san francisco that gay menomen flocked to the city to create community. you all know about the castro and the pope district neighborhood, but you might not have heard of south market. this is also a community district. its working class neighborhood of run down warehouses became fertile ground for the leather community to open bars and businesses. this neighborhood fostered the growth of the recognized subculture that had its own mayor. i want to say that again. globally recognized subculture. alan shelby moved here from england and started the famous store leather and was officially known to the friends and people of the community as the mayor of -- [bell ringing] -- the neighborhood is also unique in the culture and will facilitate the businesses and people instrumental to its implementation, but will also create communities that will support -- sorry. i'm sorry, i lost my place here. >> supervisor kim: it's ok. i'm the current president of the sf bay leather lines as well as san francisco girls of leather. i am also will, which is women's international leather legacy. i just came up from international miss leather out in san jose, so i'm happy to make it here and share our support as the girls of leather as well as the bay leather alliance in this cultural district. and to note that part of what my job was, as women's international leather legacy was to document women's history that has been lost. and to find that. and to be in san francisco and to preserve that by having people be able to stay here and international miss leather moved from san francisco because we lost our space because it was unaffordable and to have that continuity of that history of women and people participating in our community, has had impact and i would love to see what we can do to maintain and preserve our history here. and continue to see it grow and people be able to come and for women specifically to find a safe space and support as they maneuver through the world of leather and finding out who they are and

san francisco general and laguna honda. and when you have a closed head injury you end up in one of our hospitals. if you don't have good insurance, the tax payers end up paying for it. not to mention the tragedy to the individuals and their families. i was taken aback there were members of the public who spoke against common sense safety regulations like the use of helmets. and by the way, that's not our law. that is state law. albeit i know that these companies or some of these companies have been behind the assembly bill to actually remove the helmet requirement, which seems to be pretty reckless. but i would suggest that you consider and the m.t.a. consider requiring as a permit condition a photograph of the individual with a helmet prior to their ability to unlock the device. what says mr. hanson? >> i will say we do take wearing helmets and safety very seriously. i think we were the first company that offers a free helmet directly through the app. we have messaging both on the scooters and the app stating wear a helme

we are here at the san francisco urban center on mission street in san francisco and i'm joined today by marrielen from puc and talk about water and sewer issues. what are things we should be concerned about water. >> you want to be prepared for that scenario and the recommendation is to have stored 1 gallon per person per day that you are out of water. we recommend that you have at least 3-5 days for each person and also keep in consideration storage needs for your pets and think about the size of your pets and how much water they consume. >> the storage which is using tap water which you are going to encourage. >> right. of course at the puc we recommend that you store our wonderful delicious tap water. it's free. it comes out of the tap and you can store it in any plastic container, a clean plastic container for up to 6 months. so find a container, fill it with water and label it and rotate it out. i use it to water my garden. >> of course everyone has plastic bottles which we are not really promoting but it is a common way to store it. >> yes. it's an easy way to pick up bottles t

so, i'm no longer moving from san francisco. as a rider, it's helping me to save my time and it's really convenient.
