my district is in california's central valley, represent five counties in the northern san joaquin valley. and grew up in agriculture myself. my family's in the dairy business. we also grow almonds and pistachios and excited to be here participating in the ag committee and hoping my first term in congress, and i ran for this office after the 118th congress, one of the most unproductive in u.s. history, failed to get a farm bill. and folks in my district work very hard and certainly looking to congress to work hard to land a farm bill this session. i'm hopeful to be part of that. certainly a lot of important work to do. we've heard a lot today about some of the folks on this committee where there seems to be an appetite for bipartisanship and working together and i hope to certainly be part of that as well. in my district we grow some of the highest quality cotton in the world and i've heard concerns recently about the long-term prospects for funding for the cotton and trust fund and so my first question is, as a cotton farmer yourself, can you speak to the importance of programs like the
