maria medina is live in san jose with the details. maria? >> reporter: the rain really starting to come down now. now, this is how high the water had to get, um, for it to flood in this area last month. and just to give you some perspective, we're going to take a look at where coyote creek is now under the bridge that we're standing on. the santa clara water district was blamed for failing to alert residents of rising waters before it reached their doors. last month 14,000 people evacuated and hundreds rescued by boat. the santa clara water district was in the works of retrofitting anderson dam but that project had stalled and last month water from the reservoir went into coyote creek causing it to flood after some heavy rain. today, santa clara water district leaders will hold a public meeting about that project so that it doesn't happen again including increasing the height of the dam and the wall of the spillway as well as replacing the existing pipe. now we have been talking to flood victims for the last few weeks and it could be months
