now to some water worries in san jose. we were tipped off to people noticing the color of their water changing recently. we sent our scott budman into the neighborhood to check it out for us. what did you find? >> so this is the santa theresa area, in that area near 87 and the st. almaiden express way. and they are shutting down one of the water treatment plants for repair. by doing that, some of the local water is being sourced in a different way. and this way, in this case, locally sourced ground water. and san jose water, which is then sending the water to the customers say okay. it's going to look a little murky for a while. it might taste a little metallic. for a while they mean six months and it has gone into effect about a week, week and a half ago. and people are starting to notice. >> they're noticing the changes for sure. some of them are worried. take a shower in it, this is different. >> valley water, look, i'm in that area. i've tasted it. it is a little metallic. they are saying this is safe. san jose water is

so today, san jose and valley water officials showed us how they've been getting ready and what they've dope to prevent future flooding. we spoke with them this afternoon. what are they saying, ian? >> they've been doing a lot of things and planning this for months. we heard from leaders as they outlined their efforts at a press conference today. crews have been busy this fall clearing 35,000 storm drains of leaves and debris and all the local pumping stations have been inspected. they've stationed portable pumps and additional ones are ready if needed. >> we are rain and storm ready in san jose and we will be available around the clock, 24/7, to respond to flooding and other hazards. >> when it comes to valley water, it's also installing what is that? a flood wall along coyote? >> you've got to see it to believe it. kind of understand it. we've got video here. that's right. got a first look at completed section of it. right there on the left side of your screen. along with cleaning out coyote creek, they just began a year long process of installing this flood wall that you can see. it
