the southern pacific rail line near san jose still ran through the neighborhood down to san mateo. and you can see that san jose avenue is kind of a much slimmer four-lane road. and there's no 280 freeway and on the ewe side there is a whole other neighborhood of homes you can see down there. so as we move into the freeway building era, the building era of the 1960's and you can see the construction has begun both what looks like on 280 to the south but also to san jose avenue as it was to be realized as part of the future mission freeway which was halted. it was a freeway that would have connected glen park and the southern freeway through the mission to the central freeway. this is when there were plans to crisscross freeways everywhere. that plan was halted but the entrance to that freeway was built and that's why we have this big san jose avenue today. as you can see that neighborhood to the south was removed, a number of homes were removed, and i think what this photo shows is kind of that core village area, that walkable, charming area, being encroached on through the years b

san jose and oakland both almost about .90. the totals are half inch for everyone. 30s napa, fairfield, concord, san rafael, and santa rosa. mid 40s mountain view and san jose. there is a lot going. there are systems within the system. one rotating us now. the next one coming down. i mean if it zigs instead officings we get more sun. so showers in the north. more rain likely to the south. the sierra continues to get the snow. some incredible toe tools coming out of lake county. ily littletown -- i think littletown had two feet. also up at paradise there was heavy snow. this is still a go for areas down 2,000 feet. showers it's another chilly day. sun and clouds but more clouds than rain farther south you go. 50s and upper 40s. there will not be much of a difference on the temps today. today and tomorrow morning very unsettled. i'm hoping it stays offshore and goes into the central and southern california. sunday and monday looks good. >>> this morning mr. are reports the u.s. justice department is taking a preliminary look at ap

actually southeast toward san jose. but right there across the dumbarton bridge to fremont to mountain view back to santa cruz mountains starting to thicken up off the san mateo coast. light rain there. maybe bursts of moderate. nothing too heavy yet, not yet. winter weather advisories are out -- they're not out yet but they'll be posted at 4:00 today for snow around 1,000 feet and then for all the bay area hills tomorrow. tonight it's the bay area hills north bay. and then tomorrow everyone else. forecast time line rain begins today. it's already starting. snow level around 1500 feet. the very cold air doesn't arrive until really friday, friday night into early saturday. but very cold with low snow levels. a rain day. it's going to be a cold rain tomorrow. and then after we clear that out any low snow levels below 500 feet would probably be saturday morning. if there's any available moisture left with this low and chances are there will be, then a freeze watch will kick in. especially saturday night into sunday morning.
