you can see those areas of mid and low level clouds here across san jose. kind of a beautiful picture. we've had so much sunshine this year we get any clouds like this and it's a nice change for us. also in san francisco, it's gray. we do have winds 5 to 15 miles per hour but most importantly for tonight if you do have plans it is going to stay dry. a real interesting pattern shaping up. the storm system really hasn't been this size getting this close to us for probably a month, month and a half at this point. a huge area of low pressure soeshl associated with a cold front dropping in the pacific. we also have subtropical moisture tapping in from hawaii streaming in. there's a lot of dynamics with this that would ordinarily provide us with a strong storm system but the one thing that's going to be lacking is strong upper level dynamics. we'll get moisture in here but it doesn't look like it will squeeze out some of the heaviest rainfall of 2013. so do expect rainfall but don't expect a huge deluge across the bay area. we'll find temperatures in the 50s at t

a few stray showers east of san jose within the last two hours. those two are starting to wind down. if you're going to head to the high country, a little bit of good news. overnight another 2 to 4 inches of snow falling around twin bridges and up towards king veil. but the snow should shut down for saturday. after two feet of new snow, it's going to be great to go up and enenjoy. the weather is going to be cooperating with likely chain controls coming back down by the morning. clouds in and around the south bay. eventually clearing as we head through the afternoon. and the winds will pick up too, out of the northwest during the afternoon from about 10 to 20 miles per hour in the north bayhill tops. the transition we're going to see come sunday and monday is high pressure building back across northern california. and once we get a little taste of offshore winds come tuesday and wednesday, and i think even into thursday, all of our inland valleys will easily climb into the 70s. and areas south of san jose, you can see mid- to upper 70s by wednesday
