the attack happened in a home on viewmont avenue in an unincorporated area of east san jose. ne makovec is on the scene this morning with more. >> reporter: this neighborhood here viewmont avenue behind me still blocked off. it has been for about 12 hours as police continue to gather evidence here. now, the good news is that the 3-year-old girl who was stabbed is in the hospital but she is in stable condition. her 48-year-old grandmother and 1-year-old brother have died. the family member came home to find them around 3:30 yesterday afternoon. they had been stabbed and a manhunt began for a man named ruben ramirez, a family member of the three. police got a tip that he may be in san francisco and he was finally taken into custody about 6 hours later last night. the sfpd and u.s. marshals took him in. he is being called a person of interest. he could be named as a suspect later today according to police. family members and friends try to make sense of it all. >> my brother called me. he said to come here because something terrible happened. >> really confused and sad right now.
