this is because city hall's efforts to bring the oakland a's to san jose has been in legal limbo for the past four years, in part because major league baseball's slow decision-making process and also in part because of the objections brought up on behalf of the san francisco giants. yesterday mayor chuck reed sent this letter to major league baseball commissioner bud selig to try to motivate the commissioner into action, to move this process forward. in the letter, mayor reed has requested a one-on-one meeting with selig, making the argument that direct contact could help to convince the commish that san jose is series about bringing the a's south and to help avoid future litigation. local businesses suing major league baseball over this fo four-year delay. reed points out in the letter in 2011 he wanted to put the new a's stadium on the ballot but held off at selig's request. it's been two years since and no progress. much of the delay is due to the fact that the san francisco giant giants have objected to the move, claiming territorial rights. that san jose belongs in their market,
