new this morning, investigators trying to figure out what sparked an overnight fire at a home in san jose. someone called 911 just after 11:00 last night and reported seeing smoke coming from a home near valle vista elementary school. >>> a police officer accused of raping a woman while he was on duty is expected back in court today. jeffrey graves pleaded not guilty to one count of rape. prosecutors say graves drove the alleged victim to a san jose courtroom after she got into a fight with her husband in september, but returned later and raped her. the woman did not record the incident until a month later when she was pulled over on suspicion of driving drunk. >>> a former united airlines worker and his wife will find out their punishment today for stealing luggage in the midst of the chaos of the asiana airlines crash. investigators say sean and his wife stole bags belonging to people flying into sfo. one of their victims was a richmond couple who was returning from vacation when the asiana flight crashed at sfo. the couple's flight was diverted and their luggage made it to the bay area

san jose. two cars torched and it's clear this was no accident. kpix 5's kiet do reports. >> reporter: good morning. let me show you some of the damage in front of this home san jose. the dark spot shows where the car used to be but police have taken the cars as evidence as this was a crime scene and they are now investigating it as an arson. i want to show you how closely this got to the house. look at the front of the garage there. the melted plastic could have been a major tragedy out here if it caught the house on fire but look above the garage and you see the surveillance camera ra that caught everything on video. we have that footage for you now. it shows the arsonist creeping up on the right side of the screen trying to use those palm trees as cover. he is wearing a hoodie and it's dark. he thinks nobody cast see him but -- he thinks nobody can see him, but he is on a camera equipped with night vision. the arsonist empties a whole bottle of lighter fluid on the windshield of the homeowner's car and then uses an aerosol can with a lighter to start the blaze. it takes about almost half an hour for the car to be fully engulfed. the fire department got

san jose. this is according to a report and conversation we had with one of his neighbors. earlier this morning a man who we believe is chen's father left the family home in san jose with who we believe was either chen's mother or 10-year-old brother in the back seat. a family friend tells us that later today the family will head down to santa barbara where their 19-year-old son, seen here in a picture from his facebook page, was stabbed to death over the weekend in the mass killing that left seven dead. this friend tells us, that, as you can imagine, the family is in deep grief. this morning a neighbor, who lives across the street, couldn't say enough things about chen, saying he was a wonderful, wonderful boy who used to help out her elderly father with things the like the mail and newspaper. now, chen was studying at uc santa barbara, was roommates with elliot rodger, a man who killed him and the two other roommates. you heard from christie's report earlier, or the third roommate was cheng yuan hong, he was a student also from san jose. while living here in the bay area hong volunteered as a teaching assistant for a chinese language class at the rai

san jose's 16th homicide. it happened last night at a home on canyon ridge drive in east san jose. officers say the victim is a woman who was stabbed to death by someone she knew. in fact, according to police, the suspect actually called 911. when officers arrived, he was still there and they immediately arrested him. the victim later died at a hospital. investigators are working on a motive to try to figure out how the two knew each other. but they do believe that the suspect lived at the home at one point. >> anytime somebody gets is stabbed, it's bloody, so the scene was not pretty and the person died violently. now it's the detective's job to make sure there's justice for the victim. >> neighbors tell us they think a teenager also lives at the home, but no indication that child was actually present during the deadly stabbing. >> and right now, local congressman eric swawell will presenting a seclusion to increase security at mineta san jose airport in light of the stowaway case. he toured the perimeter of the airport a few weeks ago to evaluate the fence there. that's where the
