san jose police came out to pay respects. there were flowers and pictures on the auditorium stage. as for plans of a public memorium, there's no plans to one here at san jose state. >>> also in san jose, a lot of bitter feelings, as the bay area's largest city tries to solve its crisis. san jose faces a $115 million shortfall into its general fund. it could be cutting neighborhood services. this was a public hearing at city hall on the proposed cuts. residents were joined by city workers, wanting to send a clear message to mayor chuck reed and city services. the cuts would slash library hours, youth program funding and some layoffs. one worker says the mayor is not listening. >> we want to negotiate. we want to play fair. but he keeps blaming us. we wanted to shut down city hall for one day. we'll take a day of pay, everybody. he didn't want that. >> this is where it stands right now. the city manager is projecting eliminating 400 city positions, including layoffs of officers and firefighters. another public hearing on this proposed budget is scheduled for thursday. >>> this rare round of rain is sticking around the bay area a little bit longer. i'll show you vi

this is the tenth street garage here at san jose state. on the fifth floor some time shortly after 8:30 there were reports of gunfire. two people shot have died. the third person is in the hospital. he is believed to be the shooter. with me i have pat harris who's the spokesperson for san jose state. can you shed any light on this? >> the first and most important message we would like to get out, the campus is safe tonight. it has been safe throughout the evening. this incident was very contained in that it involved three individuals. two are deceased and in our tenth street garage right now. one person is in the hospital. we're checking on that person's condition. >> reporter: was this a random shooting or was there a relationship between these people. >> everyone involved is gravely injured if not dead. but we do believe that it wasn't random at all. it wasn't a drive by shooting, it wasn't gang related, etc., it was very contained having to do with these three individuals. >> reporter: do we know if they were students at this point? >>

these are the very latest details emerging in a murder- suicide mystery at san jose state university. our anne makovec is at the campus with more on the victims' connection. anne, what have you learned? >> reporter: well, police aren't saying a lot about exactly how these people knew each other. but we know again that two students were among the dead. and they were shot several times just days away from graduation. >> there is a great feeling of sadness, i think, on this campus this morning. >> reporter: finally, police released more details on the murder-suicide that shocked the campus of san jose state tuesday night. police say these two accounting students are the victims, kyle williams and cindy caliguiran shot and killed by caliguiran's husband in the married couple's car in this parking garage. the husband, napoleon caliguiran, was 54 years old, 29 years older than his wife. police say he then shot and killed himself. a campus spokesman says there are still a lot of unanswered questions involved. >> we won't know. everybody who knows for sure has passed away. >> reporter: we do
