evacuations under way near the san lorenzo river. that has reached flood stage. those orders are in the felton grove and paradise park area. >> we have new drone video to show you just coming into our newsroom from that area. those are cars submerged under water. >> some of those drivers had to be rescued. you can see homes affected by the water at this hour as well. we've just learned emergency crews made it to help residents near the browns valley road in via del sol. flooding has damaged the bridge making it hard for anyone in the area to evacuate. >>> bob redell, what are you seeing now? >> reporter: well, we were trying to get to felton but this stopped us. we are on southbound 17 just south of glenwood drive where you can see a very large mudslide. at one point it was blocking both lanes. this happened around 8:25 this morning, and remarkably, no one driving in the southbound direction was harmed by this, no cars were hit by it. and since then, caltrans has carved out a little path on the left side of that mudslide to make way for emergency vehicles. but as

in santa cruz, the san lorenzo river could overflow its banks again. >> the water came up to here. >>ter: last weekend water and mud poured into howard burman's home. >> it's great living on the river, not so great living in the river. >> reporter: over the past two weeks, most of california received up to 600% of its normal rainfall. meteorologists say extreme precipitation events are becoming more common and more intense due to climate change. an entire neighborhood submerged in the central valley, the state's farm belt. in southern california, that sinkhole that trapped two cars, continues to grow. and a close call at this elementary school-- luckily, no one was hurt. take a look at this huge tree here. this landslide blocked a mountain highway and workers have been trying to clear it for two days. they've got a long way to go. here in santa cruz, both rain and a tidal surge brought destructive waves. >> blew right off the hinges. just was, up against-- across the room. >> reporter: michael lillis showed us the damage to his home. >> it was about, i was soaked from here down. >> re

the san lorenzo river at felton expected to reach its highest point at about 7:00 in the morning, sodo have another hour but if you are anywhere in that area, you do want to make sure you're moving away because the water will continue to rise. also the alameda creek near niles expected to crest at about 7:00 as well at moderate flood stage at 12.8 feet. reservoirs continue to come up. we're also going to see a lot of the ones that are at or over capacity continue to flow over in parts of the north bay like lake sonoma. looking at the lexington reservoir today it's at 100%. looking back to december 1st it was down to 33.3% so a huge increase in just over the past 45 days. still rain in the area but is moving off to the east. we're still seeing lingering showers for the east bay, concord and antioch and discovery bay. it's getting lighter as you move over to los altos and we'll see the back edge of that more widespread rain starting to continue to move on through. we're looking at still some wet roads for the tri-valley. take a look at 580, so sloppy out there. a lot of puddles. right

all that have draining down and we are awaiting the rise of the san lorenzo river at felton expected to crest within the next hour and it is expected to reach about 17.3 feet. and then also the alameda creek near niles expected to crest in the next hour as well and it is going to produce some moderate flooding so we've seen that ongoing as also our reservoirs have had a huge boost here recently. a lot of them at capacity or overflowing. and as we go into today we'll watch those water levels very closely, even just the lexington reservoir going back to december 1st it was at 33.3% of capacity. today 100%. and we've seen it rise about 66.7% in the last 45 days and at last check it was less than a foot from spillover. so those increased flows will continue for the los gatos creek as we go into today. and for the sierra snowpack, also a huge boost from all of these storms right now statewide we're at 245% of normal. and if we extend it out to april 1st, if we don't get another snowflake, we'll still be at 117% of normal so we've had a lot of snow, and we're expecting another foot or two

daytime hours and evacuation orders are in effect now for people living along the san lorenzo river in santa cruz county, ktvu is greg lee continues our live coverage tonight. greg how are things looking down there? i know it took you a long time to get there. yeah. julie, the cleanup continuous. here in felton grove , this neighborhood that was hit hard by those floodwaters this morning from the san lorenzo river. thankfully you can't see much of it now because it's dark , but those waters have receded as we get this break in the storm, but it has left several inches of mud and sludge that people are just trying to clear out of their first floors as they returned home from those evacuation orders. i want to show you some video from pretty much the peak of those floodwaters. this drone video over felton. some neighbors telling us that it was 56 ft. high of just water and mud up to a foot going into some of people's homes, despite their efforts to put sandbags down some other video of santa cruz county crews using jet skis in this area because the water level was so high they needed to

the san lorenzo river expected to reach major flood stage.anton, that's been lowered slightly. still coming to flood stage by mid afternoon. russian river at guerneville expected to rise up toward flood stage. and the napa river in downtown napa, about a foot and a half below flood stage. we'll be watching that closely if the rain line chains a bit monday evening. heavy rain at times, and another storm arriving as we get into tuesday could also increase thunderstorms over the bay area as well. we'll have a closer look at that hour by hour in our forecast in a few minutes. >> several sonoma county school districts will be closed tomorrow and tuesday because of what's coming in. that means no in-person or virtual classes for students in the districts you see in your screen there. parents of students and districts not listed there should assume school is still open tomorrow. >> we're staying on top of all the issues related to the storm. that includes school closures, evacuation orders, power outages, road closures as well. we're posting updates
