earlier i said how we may be looking out in this scenario, that's how, san luis obispo will get 7 inches of rain. and even though we will see an impressive night of rain with a two or three hour window where it comes down pretty heavy, it's going to rain for a day and a half solid, not only in san luis obispo, but in big sur. and they've got some been big burn scars of their own. and that is about to get poured on with about 2 to 3 times as much rain as we will see here at home in the bay area. so don't get me wrong, we've got a rough night ahead of us, but it could have been a lot worse. and when it comes to these atmospheric rivers, location is everything. if that had adjusted north about 75 to 125 miles north we would have a very different story tonight. that's where things stand on that.>> we will keep a close eye on things over the next couple of days. in case that all storm system pivots a little bit. right now, what we are looking at is just a lot of rain and the rainiest and wendy is conditions are with us at the moment and will continue for the next 2 to 3 hours. pretty much eve

yesterday was bull's right there along the coastline of monterey county found further south into san luis obispo but what we do have now is a bit of a retro grade happening. so it's moved back up to where it came from and that does mean now the bay area's really tapping into the moisture, especially that very southern end of the bay area this morning so do expect some heavier showers the morning, especially the further south in the bay, you get at times this moisture water rise a little bit further northward. that means areas like san francisco contra costa solano counties will also be getting into the mix and also looking at the potential of isolated heavy downpours maybe even a roll of thunder too we saw some hail in spots yesterday. that's also potential today as we see this afternoon convection that thunderstorm building and you do see those isolated cells popping up as we work our way later this morning on into the afternoon. so generally your heavier totals of rainfall will be for the south bay as well as for portions of the east bay, the further north you get you will see more isol

now usually don't worry red flag warnings, the middle of winter but here we are looking towards san luis obispo lompoc in towards santa barbara. they're still looking at some very gusty winds out there tonight maybe gusting over 50 miles per hour coming up the northeast very dry wind. and they are looking at red flag warnings continuing at least until tomorrow here the bay area's blustery out the begin to subside you've got 27 mile an hour gust. still beach 20 in mill valley, 29 and snow medicine gusting, fairly strong there but we're down on the 30's now, but around the best the bay area you can started taper off just a bit so things are going to start to calm down of course. we had really tight iso bars, those lines of equal pressure you see him right here just kind of lined up tightly compressed that means those winds going to be very strong but as we take the time in the forecast watch what happens. and these really start to spread out quite a bit as we get in toward tomorrow. there you really very wide apart so not a huge pressure difference that means things are going to calm down
