marcus. good morning and happy 4th of july to you. we're live in san francisc. that is the hope of firefighters here. the city is hosting its annual fireworks show later tonight. chris and cross our fingers. hopefully it will be a safe one, but firefighters do tell us that every year they see fires that are sparked by illegal fireworks. a few bay area cities have taken measures into their own hands, including gilroy, san bruno, pacifica and dublin. they will allow so-called safe and sane fireworks, but firefighters say even those can be dangerous. now. this year, conditions like the triple digit heat and the dry vegetation add to the danger. crews are already stretched thin, with many of them battling fires in other parts of the state. we are fully staffed and we're working to continue kind of buffering those numbers and bring in more personnel. it has a lot to do with the fires in the state happening. we have resources that got sent out to support some of the other fires that are happening. and so because of that, we bring more resources in. in san jose, like m

marcus washington. we're going to get to that excessive heat warning in just a moment. but first we're following breaking news on a pretty disturbing story out of san francisco. san francisco police arrested a man for allegedly pushing a senior citizen in front of a bart train , killing her. police say this happened late last night at the powell street station in san francisco. we have file video of that station. travis belmont, also known as hok tang, pushed a 74 year-old woman as the train approached. she was taken to the hospital and later died. the medical examiner is identifying the victim as corazon dandan of san mateo county. police say belmont is a transient. he was shortly arrested at the station after the incident. this is the first homicide on the bart system so far. this year. it's unclear what led up to the incident. we'll continue to follow that for you through the day as well. but back to the soaring temperatures across the bay area. that excessive heat warning just went into effect at the top of the hour, along with the heat warning, the bay area under a spare, the air alert. bay area air quality management officials are now extendi

marcus washington. here's what's happening for our upcoming 8 a.m. streaming newscast. i'm bob redell here at santana row in sang a watch party as the us women's soccer team kicks off their first match at the summer games in paris against zambia. that watch party from 11 a.m. this morning until 3:00 this afternoon. let's get a look at that forecast. meteorologist kari hall is tracking what we can expect today. we're getting ready for some cooler temperatures, but still for the valleys. it's going to be a warm day. and san jose, we're waking up to sunshine while it's foggy in san francisco. those low clouds will allow for those temperatures to only make it up to about 68 degrees in the city, and then for san jose, much warmer with a high of 87. and although we are still dealing with some hot temperatures in the tri valley into the inland east bay, we are not looking at any triple digits for this afternoon, and the north bay, for the most part, will be in the 80s from novato to santa rosa, reaching 87 degrees. much more significant cooling coming our way tomorrow with a lot of spots only in the 70s. back to you,

marcus washington. let's get right to some of the news for today. first, new overnight cleanup underway after a massive water main break in san pablo. this is new video that we have into our newsroom. water rushing through the streets and into homes. it happened about 10:00 last night along kevin road near tara hills drive. at least two customers are without water and east bay. authorities say it's estimated they'll get it back at about 930. this morning. look at the mess up. they've got to clean. it's unclear what caused that water main to break. let's check in with meteorologist kari hall right now because she's been tracking the heat and kari won't be as hot in recent days that we have, but we're going to see that temperature rise again. yeah, unfortunately, it's not over. we just get a slight reprieve for the next couple of days as we're going to see those temperatures coming down just a little bit, and we're starting out all clear as we get a live look out there in dublin this morning. it is a little hazy, as we do have numerous fires burning across the region and slightly cooler today and tomorrow. but the excessive heat warni
