the quake struck 4:30 this afternoon just five miles east of san martin. there were no reports of damage, no injuries. people in gilroy said they did feel shaking as well. a dry cold spell sweeping the bay area. changes could be on the way. take a look outside now. a beautiful shot of the bay bridge and the san francisco city lights are gorgeous. rain could be headed to parts of the bay area for christmas though. here's our meteorologist tracking the conditions. >> we are starting with milder temperatures. we have been waking up to cold temperatures. this morning we were warmer in spots thanks to high clouds that were keeping us warm. once again it is expected to keep the overnight lows a little bit more on the milder side versus freezing and below freezing temperatures we saw earlier during the work week. if you head outside oakland at 48. san jose at 50. san francisco at 51 degrees. we can expect to see some areas of isolated freezing temperatures for the interior valleys. all in all the temperature trend will show a nice warm-up in terms of temperatures
