in san martin rob fladeboe kron4news (pam) in the south bay... today, marked the first day of the sacred heart community services .. distribution of thanksgiving food boxes. but the group still needs turkeys... more than 4- thousand families are expecting to get them. kron 4's yoli aceves has the story from san jose. november 19, is the first day of sacred heart community service's (shcs) thanksgiving food box distribution. the agency plans for 4,200 families to come through its doors to pick up thanksgiving food boxes that contain 50 pounds of food and a turkey. the agency currently has 2,318 turkeys-a little under 2,000 shy of its goal for 4,200 turkeys to distributethis week. shcs will also distribute another 3,200 food boxes in december.the food box offsets the cost of groceries for families in santa clara county, saving them $100 thisthanksgiving. living in one of the most expensive areas in the country means a bulk of our memberspaychecks go straight to housing expenses. the average cost for a 2 bedroom apartment in san jose is $2,753 and 2

a lot of our north bay counties and even into the tri-valley, it's 33 right now in san martin. we're just 1 degree above freezing. still looking at upper 60s for most of our microclimates. dress in layers. a hat and scarf will help keep you warm for the early morning hours and then we're tracking the storm system that we'll be approaching heading into the middle of next week. let's see how this plays out on the computer models. we're looking at southerly winds starting to kick in as the storm system approaches. that will help clear out some of the smoke going into the end of the weekend, early next week. the first wave of rain may come through as early as next tuesday, another wave on friday and possibly a third wave of rain coming through on saturday. our models still all over the place with how much rain we'll see. it looks like we'll see at least maybe up to an inch but it's still very far out and things may change between now and then. here's another computer model, the gfs model, and a lot concentrated over the north bay. i'll be hammering out the details on that as we get

one officer got a motion or -- emotional as he spoke with jesse gary in san martin. >> you walk those a little extra attention. >> reporter: for jeremy, the pain of losing a pet is so intense he felt comparing -- compelled to help camp fire victims facing that prospect. >> these people have lost everything. to be the person to hand them their dog hits home for me.>> reporter: over the last six days, he and his partner set up and worked three makeshift shelters at the chico airport. there were hundreds of animals from the largest dogs to small reptiles who were displaced -- displaced and fairly lost when the camp fire started. >> it was emotionally draining a little bit. to provide my service was really rewarding.>> reporter: scores of volunteers served as a receiving site for nearly 1000 pets separated from their owners. some needed merit -- medical attention and almost all needed a person to help with the emotional upheaval that comes with evacuation and loss. >> having a human being to let them know that it isn't a bad place. this is a good place. >> reporter: they got up early and

might even see upper 60s down toward san martin and santa cruz. francisco to oakland. the cooler temperatures the next few days around the inland east bay value i whys, fog is setting up over the next couple of mornings. storm ranger, mobile doppler radar not seeing much. few high clouds passing by and an active pattern taking shape as we go through the week. first system due in on tuesday. we'll bring light to moderate rain, not a huge impact on the weather, other than the fact the rain is coming back. late wednesday and thursday, this system developing here will bring rain and wind and the potential for some pretty heavy rain at times for thursday. friday right now, looks like we catch a bit of a break and as we get into the weekend, another storm drops more rain our way for sunday, and then possibly tuesday and the ten-day outlook keeps these storms coming on in as we go through the next few days. the biggest impact is the ten-day rainfall outlook, looks to be that thursday storm or the wednesday to thursday midweek storm as you see here, some

san martin 73 and even marina -- one observation -- other observation at 75 and a beautiful 68 -- you don't get that in june or july. look at the cold air. it is brutally cold here. temperatures in the 20s. a lot of record lows. somebody is benefiting with the bridge from the west. it is holding its ground and a few clouds might breakthrough but that will add to the haze. in the city observations showing the east wind and one northwest at the sunset. and easterly breeze. it is still offshore going over treasure island into the city. you can find the northerly breeze in rio vista and fairfield and port chicago of all places has a northeast breeze. the offshore is not the strongest warmer in monterey then in this area. 46 in reno with a high-pressure -- all the way in vancouver and seattle it is deflecting everything to the north. it does look like this will plan and we should start to see some moderation and a little more of a westerly breeze over the next few days. very hazy continuing into tuesday. probably wednesday. then some signs of a better pattern by the weekend so we get more

we go down to the south county where morgan hill and san martin are seeing the rain just moving to the east of 101 where it was just pouring. as we take off our storm layer radar you can see what the radars are showing, the regular radar, and it's not as detail and our scan gives you an up to the second look at that's happening and what's falling from the sky. as we look at the region, it's really coming down. even for the central valley and then extending towards the sierra where the snow still continues at this hour. taking you into the afternoon going hour by hour, we'll still see waves of rain moving in, but other areas are just going to see partly cloudy skies, and that's also where we've gotten some pictures of rainbows and things where we're seeing the rain moving on, and i think we'll see a lot more of that into the early afternoon, but the activity really starts to diminish in time for the evening commute and then shortly after sunset our rain starts to taper off. as we go into tonight though, looking at some much more quiet weather, and our additional rain fall totals will co
