robert handa joins us live from san martin. this is good piloting here. >> reporter: that right. we are here at south santa clara county airport. where as you can imagine, it is a big topic of conversation among the pilot community. there was a similar landing at hayward airport a few weeks ago. i talked with that pilot today about his insight into the similar adventure i shares with harrison ford. when harrison ford's vintage world war ii single engine plane lost power as it took off from santa monica airport he responded exactly as he should have in report together tower. that's the opinion of david olson, the fremont pie wlot safely crash landed his single engine plane on the sky west golf course in hayward on sunday february 15th after it lost power leaving hayward executive airport. olson was impressed by ford's demeanor. >> engine failure, immediate return. >> first thing you are supposed to do is fly the plane. and from what we heard from his conversation with the tower, was he seemed like he was very calm and was trying to return. >> do you remember being as calm in your

nbc's robert honda is joining us from south county airport in san martin. great perspective from this local pilot who also survived. >> reporter: that's right. we are at the south santa clara airport and pilots here say they will probably learn a lot from the harrison ford incident. that's the view from the east bay pilot that i talked to who said he knows what harrison ford went through. the scene is familiar but involves a prominent bay area attorney instead of a prominent movie star. fremont pilot david olson landed safely on a hayward golf course on sunday february 15th after his single-engine plane lost power leaving the hayward airport. harrison ford crash-landed his vintage single-engine plane on a golf course after it lost power taking off as well. >> so he probably had the same thoughts, where can i land without endangering other people? and when i came on the golf course, there were people up and down the fairway, so i just went across the pairwayfairway to make sure i didn't endanger any other people. it appears harrison ford did the same. >> rep
