san jose, 280 and highway 17 roadwork going on in cupertino, details coming up. >>> good morning i'm eric thomas. >> gentleman and i'm kristen sze. breaking news -- and i'm kristen sze. breaking news martinez firefighters on the scene of fatal apartment fire, two people are dead. amy hollyfield just got to the scene. >> reporter: the fire captain announced it to the neighbors on the sidewalk that two of their neighbors died. they were gas -- there were gasps and a lot of sadness. some believe it was a boyfriend and girlfriend in their 30s. firefighters' theory is the fire started on the bottom floor and they were trapped upstairs. this started 3:30 this morning. in martinez this is the briars apartment building. they evacuated three buildings, several people on the sidewalk trying to figure out what to do next. there are 60 people displaced. they are waiting for the red cross to arrive to help. firefighters did have to encourage two people to leave their homes. they had gone back to retrieve their things. firefighters had to come in and force them to get out those two had to be treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. everyone else was okay. firefighters are waiting for investigators to
