yesterday in san mateo as police were patrolling the parking lot at hillsdale mall. they spotted this stolen chevy, and attempted to pull it over. the driver sped away throwing credit cards out of the window. the chevy hit another car on east hldale ulevard and eventually pulled into this cul-de-sac where officers got out of their cruiser and approached the driver, who then sped toward the officers, forcing one to shoot at the car. the two people inside the stolen car were hit, taken to the hospital for their injuries. san mateo police will now open three separate investigations, one focusing on the original crime of the stolen car and one to determine whether the officer who fired his weapon acted within department policy. both of those investigations led by the police department. a third investigation will look into the use of force by police led by the san mateo county district attorney's office. >>> to a chaotic celebration in the north bay, yesterday a fire ripped through a wedding venue, destroying at least three buildings and forcing people to flee.
