san mateo county supervisors are asking gavin newsom to veto on ordinance for local hiring goal for allfinanced construction jobs. the supervisors feel the ordinance takes away job opportunities for county residents. it applies to jobs within a 70 mile radius of san francisco. >> we need to sit down and talk this thing over and figure out an amicable solution. >> one major project underway is at san francisco international airport which is located in san mateo county and lots of jobs from that project. under the city's ordinance, half of those workers have to be from san francisco. >> a new report card for one of the nation's most powerful innovation engines shows stanford university-based inventions generated more than $65 million in income for the university last year despite a recession. total earnings for inventions was over $1 billion for the past four decades with more than half coming from just two inventions. the hypertech search engine used by google brought in $336 million. the ground-breaking suppliesing technology brought in $25 million and dsl brought in $28 million. >> the
