so for this $110,000 gap, $55,000 has been provided by our counterparts in san mateo county, the san mateo county transportation authority that leaves $55,000, which is the subject of this request. the project itself for full construction has not been fully funded yet. in fact, that's a question that the authority is currently engaged in the stud dwroi try to answer -- study to try to answer. it's called the bycounty transportation study. ear wailing to build some interagency, cooperation and agreement, on a full list of by bicounty investments and provide a funding strategy for these investments. the candlestick interchange project is one of the projects on this list so there's interest in both sides of the county line in seeing this project move forward. in its april meeting, the c.a.c. made a recommendation on this appropriation, also asked staff to explore ways to more actively involve the community in this and other bi-county projects. and the staff is following up on that request at the moment. that concludes my presentation. i'm happy to answer any questions. chairman chu: than

san mateo county actually practices the infrastructure that allows their citizens to be able to dispose of their unwanted medications and pharmaceuticals at san mateo county's expense. we want the pharmaceutical industry to shoulder the cost of the burden here. we have dealt with the two pharmaceutical consortiums for a program that will begin in the next several months, 2011. in order to direct people to know where they can discard their pharmaceuticals, this ordinance, which got the support of the small business commission as well, has directed people in pharmacies like walgreen's, safeway, others, where they can go. that is the criteria from other legislation like the mercury warnings. i would appreciate your support. hopefully, state law will catch up with local law and we will be able to do something about what i think has become an increasing threat to our waste water system because of contaminants leaching into that, about people getting access to medications, pharmaceuticals that should not, especially our young people, because cdc had shown where fatalities and harm has been we

this morning, the man is in the san mateo county jail in redwood city charged with a federal offense ing with a flight crew. san francisco airport police say the man carrying a pass for the from yemen banged on the cook pit door last night yelling. the flight was half hour from sfo with more than 160 people aboard. he got on board at laguardia airport. now, when the man rushed the cockpit, he was tackled by two flight attendants and two passengers. though passengers a retired san mateo police officer and the secret service agent. they arrested him with a flight attendant's plastic handcuffs. airport police are still trying to find out more about the suspect and his motives. >> we know that he is a 28-year- old male subject. we do have his name, also. there was information that he did possess a california identification card as well as a yemen passport. >> reporter: as you can see from the twitter photos the suspect rageit almurisi was kept in custody in first class until the plane landed at sfo. there were no threats and no weapons found. the suspect was treated for scrapes to his elb

this morning, the chp investigating the cause of a deadly crash in san mateo county. a pickup truck carrying seven workers careened off a rural road and tumbled into a canyon. now, this happened on highway 35 on alpine road yesterday morning. one worker was killed, six others injured when the truck rolled over several times down an embankment. the men were part of a private contracting team hired to spray weeds in the russian ridge open space reserve. that area is so complete, it took 45 minutes for crews to hike to the victims. >>> search-and-rescue teams have a lot more debris to check as they look for tornado victims in joplin, missouri. officials have a list of 232 people still considered to be missing. some of those are on the list -- some of those on the list are among the 126 people killed and others are believed to be alive. >> sarah, mike! >> sarah, mike! >> and this is some new video from just after the tornado hit joplin. cnn reporter frantically searching a devastated home for his sister and fiance. they were found alive and well eventually. >>> today secr

>> it certainly could, san mateo county d.a., down in ventura done. here in santa clara county they are looking at 865 cases in san jose alone and another 133 cases in palo alto, all because of a breathalyzer advertised, it was not improved. take a look at the breathalyzer we're talking about. it was introduced this past november. to palo alto pd in april last year. it can give false readings because of a condensation problem with the device. they don't anticipate a large number of cases to be dismissed. this is used by officers to test for alcohol. they test coordination having the driver walk a straight line, then if arrested, they are required to give a blood or ur intest and give another breath test. but still, cases could be overturned. >> imagine a case was able to blow in the screen device in the field that was too intoxicated to give a breath or blood sample. in those situations, it could be the field screening device was the main piece of evidence. and we're going to oppose a motion and start the case all over or dismiss the case entirely. >>

we just learned that a centuries old tree in san mateo county may be saved from the chopping block. kcbs radio's matt bigler reports. >> reporter: she is not getting chopped down. no construction will happen until at least next month. the chief of the san francisco public utilities commission will personally get involved in the dispute between granny and the water pipeline. he wants to find out why the utility decided the tree has it- to-go to make way for the pipeline. he is also apologizing to neighbors here about the way they were notified that the tree trimming would happen on monday. neighbors were very upset that they say they were notified at the close of business last friday that the tree trimmers would be here first thing monday morning and that's when they mounted an all-out defense over the weekend to get the word out about granny. we talked to mary ann mulliner early. she says they see this tree as the matriarch of their community. >> this oak was one of the orange ancient forest oaks. it has value. it should have value to all of us. there are counties in the state where
