san carlos, redwood city and an area in san mateo county are thinking about closing one fire station each and replacing it with one station they can share. san carlos mayor says three stations are within a mile of one another and respond to about one to two calls every day. he says consolidation just makes sense. >> right now we pay $7.5 million combined for all three stations, we would look to spend $2.8 to $4 million for a joint station and split it three ways. >> there will be discussion on this on monday at san carlos city hall. in the east bay, firefighters gathered at the funeral of one of their own today, called into action while they were there. fire broke out a block away of where dozens of firefighters were remembering a retired firefighter from crockett. firefighters say they slipped on their gear over their suits, ran to the building and went to work. flames tore through a vacant laundromat. the firefighters say they were able to save a retirement home next door. >> multiple effort to get this out. and just happened to be on a day that we were honoring one of our fallen co
