. >> in the past hour, law enforcement officials in san mateo county announced the biggest gang bust in county history a dozen accused gang members indicted for murder and other crimes. nick? >>> it legally just wrapped up. san mateo county district attorney says this is the most massive case prosecuted by the district attorney's office: 11 are being arraigned this district court. san mateo county district attorney says that operation sunny day was named that because that term, sunny day, is what was used by the gang members when murders they ordered, orchestrated, or committed were carried out. the gangs identified by the district attorney are one called taliban, a gang war. the grand jury returned three indictments charges 16 people for a series of crimes that included murder, attempted murder, illegal firearms possession, conspiracy and drug tracking. >> of the 16 people, 11 of them are in custody in san mateo county jail right now. the other five are in custody in other jurisdictions and will be prosecute back to san mateo county for this prosecution. of the 16, nine of them are c

today san mateo county rolled out a new program to fight this problem. children and immigrants are among the victims who are exploited on the peninsula. we go to san mateo for details on this new program. >> reporter: i'm here at the san mateo police department just one of a dozen of agencies that will adhere to what they call a blueprint for dealing with human trafficking that's centered on the victim. today 20 police chiefs from san mateo county along with the san mateo district attorney's office and representatives from the fbi, homeland security and the u.s. attorney's office were on hand for the roll out of what they say is that victim centered protocol for human trafficking. the idea is to make sure anyone who might come in contact with a victim of human trafficking knows what to do from the beginning whether that victim is a prostitute, runaway or a housekeeper or a nanny working in the home. it includes training people like flight attendants and hotel workers so they can see signs and addresses how to get help for the victim and keep them involved

san mateo county by comparison, san mateo county has almost the same population. slightly under the total population. they have the same over 65 population. i can't speak to the adults with disabilities breakdown. they receive about 100 reports a month. by comparison, we have a lot of reports we receive here in san francisco. i an attribute that to a number of factors. one is that we have a very responsive aps program. the more that an aps program can do, the greater the need and the more calls that you are going to be getting. we also have a very services rich community and we have a lot of mandated reporter's here and they are very thoughtful and conscientious about calling in and we have a program with a centralized intake unit and not many have that and you really can lose reports that way. we have a thriving aps program. i would like to think we could be starting to work on prevention and working ourselves so to speak but given the graphics and the issues like here in san francisco. >> thank you so much for coming today. >> thank you so much and i'm happy to

pacifica, daly city police and the san mateo county district attorney's office are investigating. >>> another officer-involved shooting is underway in alameda county. in this case, officers fired at a man during a police pursuit in san leandro. they say the man refused to pull over for a traffic stop in unincore rarted hayward and was shot after a short chase to san lorenzo. witnesses say it looked like the man drove his car toward the officer. he was hit in the arm bile the bullet and is expected to survive. the deputy involved is on paid leave pending the investigation. >>> an amtrak train hit a person in crockett. it happened around 7:30 near winslow and vallejo streets. the person was helicoptered to the trauma center. the train was headed to oakland from sacramento with 56 passengers on board. none were injured. accident did cause delays between martinez and richmond until the tracks reopened at 8:45. >>> san jose firefighters say an illegal marijuana growing operation was the source of a house fire this morning. the fire broke out at a home on lapya drive jst 9:00. firefighters
