it happened yesterday at a 99- cent only store in san pablo and university avenues.got into an argument with the man who pulled a knife and injured the shopper. the victim was not hurt too badly, and refused medical treatment. police arrested the suspect with the knife. this incident is just the latest example of a spike in violence in berkeley. the daily californian reports there have been several shootings and three homicides this year. there was just one homicide all of last year in berkeley. this is a murder in south berkeley last week. many who live in that neighborhood say their area is being neglected, but police say they allocate a lot of resources to south berkeley. >>> the richmond police racial discrimination trial continues today. defense attorneys for police chief christmas news and the richmond police department said the claims of seven black officers accusing the department of discrimination are ridiculous. they say the officers work to undermine the chief. the officers alleged there was a hostile work environment. jury deliberations will begin after t
