chp has issued a traffic advisory for the area san pablo avenue and the richmond parkway. let's bring in alyssa harrington who is live from the scene and this could take hours to clear. >> reporter: i want to explain how this happened, a big rig was traveling on richmond parkway through the intersection when a suspect vehicle traveling on san pablo avenue went through a red light crashing into the side of the truck. and then the big rig ended up dragging the car 50 feet. you can see where they ended up, the car is still stuck underneath. a tow truck just arrived to try to remove both of the vehicles from the scene. this happened, it started as a chase just before midnight, deputies saw two people discard something in a suspicious manner at the post office so they attempted to pull the driver over but instead the driver took off at a high speed and the car traveled down san pablo ran a red light and slammed into the side of a big rig. the driver died and the passenger was able to walk out of the car. we are not sure about any injuries. police later found out the suspicious

it happened at saturday afternoon at san pablo park in south berkeley. allie rasmus is they are at berkeley police headquarters with some new information you have learned about this investigation and the victims. >> yes. berkeley police spent the weekend talking to witnesses who were there when shooting happened on saturday at san pablo park. there were quite a few witnesses and people there. police estimate anywhere from 100 to 200 people were at the park going about their business when the gunfire rang out. according to witness accounts some people in a vehicle pulled up to the park saturday evening and got out of the vehicle and started firing and shooting at a group of men also at the park in their 20s. police say that group returned fire. other park goers and innocent bystanders had to dock for cover as bullets went flying. three people were struck. a 25- year-old man was shot multiple times in the mid section. he is still in the hospital in critical condition. two bystanders in a separate barbecue area of the park were also struck by the bullets. a

at san pablo park in south berkeley. three men were wounded.... a 25 year old.. a man in his 50's and another in his early 60's. police say someone in a passing car likely shot into a group of people at the park. it's unclear if they were targeting the victims.. or if the bullets were meant for someone else. police tell kron 4 the park was crowded at the time of the shooting so it could have been much worse. san pablo park is about a mile from the police department.
