they're upset, angry, but they actually they they transfer a sizable amount of people to san quentin in one place. and there are already people there as well that were organizing and this gives what will become black guerilla family a stronghold in san quentin. and so certain of the only solution being organization helped co-found the black guerilla family in 1970 and san quentin with approximately about nine other people. and so i say that because in my interviews with with living co-founders of the black guerilla family, that are out and not incarcerated anymore, they it was like a dispute. it was like over like a certain person. so i was i always 9 to 10 because it was back and forth about whether or not that person is really a co-founder. if they're just an early member. so the the goal at this time is to give black incarcerated people the best chance of the california department corrections and as we'll see survive, doing more set ups that are occurring because corrupt white correctional officers are aligning themselves with self-identified nazi guys that end up consolidating th

they were all directed by formerly incarcerated filmmakers who honed their skis in the san quentin mediant was organizeded b avanti media productions. after the screening of six films, there was a q&a session with the filmmakers. three of the six films shown tonight were finalists at the inaugural san quentin film festival last fall. working to change the face of science. that's the mission of an east bay organization trying to get more young women interested in stem. that, of course, is science, technology, engineering and math. tonight, scientific adventures for girls had its 10th held its 10th anniversary gala. the organization offers year round after-school programs for girls in tk through sixth grade. their goal is to remove barriers allowing girls to get hands on experience with stem and potentially pursue a career in the field. first of all, women and girls are underrepresented in stem, and we're going to need as a nation, more young people to start majoring and going into stem careers to be successful as a nation. meteorologist vianey arana served as tonight's emcee, and our nbc

three of the six films shown last night were finalists at the inaugural san quentin film festival last experience for some high schoolers this weekend. san francisco designer stormy weather banks organized a prom dress pop up shop. yesterday, that pop up coincided with international women's day and offered an affordable shopping experience. those shoppers were able to choose from more than 50 prom dresses. they get discouraged, they get discouraged and don't want to go to school because they can't afford certain things like other like other students. so it's just important for me to make sure that everybody is involved, you know, that it's inclusive and that everybody gets a prom dress, and that woman is one of the up and coming designers who donated a dress. students who purchased a dress also are receiving free alterations. wow. beautiful. and if you're looking for something to do this weekend, no prom for you. our mike inouye has a few ideas in this weekend's calendar. good morning. kira. we'll start out with what you cannot do this weekend. you cannot use the bart pittsburg center

we brought over 40 elected das to san quentin for the situation. now we are inviting the police department. our formerly incarcerated group born out of this programming asked for the opportunity to work on a project where we could bring the men in blue on the outside to come speak to the men on blue inside to start the healing dialogue around how the criminal justice system specifically in san francisco impacts the community. i was attracted to the role. there was a component of equity that was part of this process. the equity community here in san francisco is a community that i had already worked with. before i took steps to visit cannabis businesses i thought it was important my team have a chance to go inside and speak to men who had been impacted. that conversation needed to happen so we know how we are making an impact with the work that we are doing. the da's office as we were leading up to the legalization of marijuana in the state we started having conversations on the policy team what that could look like. the district attorney was really
