it's still raining right now, light showers moving into richmond across richmond-san rafael bridge. so just allow extra time to get to where you're going. all clear and dry as we take a live look outside in san jose and you're getting dressed this morning you do need still a nice warm jacket and maybe a hood in case it starts drizzling or you get caught in one of those spotty light showers. it will stay mostly cloudy and cool today so long sleeves definitely a good organization. we are seeing the storms lining up in the pacific. you see this long stretch of clouds extending well off towards the west. we will see more rounds of rain moving in. our next system will be moving in on thursday and that will bring in some scattered showers and heavy sierra snow. all of these areas where you see the blue, that's heavy snow coming down and another storm system right behind that from sunday into monday will bring in some more rain and sierra snow. we talked about how low that snow is, right now for the central sierra around lake tahoe it's only at about 29% of normal, but let me show you what'

or early afternoon rain, rather, at about 2:00, possibly for san rafael, san francisco, and half moonay. and then we keep the chance of showers really all through the evening and into the overnight hours. but the biggest impact is going to be into tonight, and into early monday morning. we're talking widespread rain, all the way from the north bay down to the south bay, where you see the oranges and yellows. these are the heavier pockets of rain that we're dealing with, along with strong, gusty conditions. we're talking about the possibility of seeing a band of showers at about 8:00. you can see even red pockets of rain of really heavy pounding rain, and the system is expected to linger at least through tuesday. so we're talking about a big storm system. let's talk about those rain totals. as of right now, the euro model is showing the possibility of anywhere between 1 to 2 inches of rain. look at napa, just over 2 inches. san francisco, over an inch-and-a-half. san jose, just over an inch-and-a-half. that is going to bring some major concerns for the north bay fire burn scars. the bi

also at 101 and san rafael and going across that richmond, san rafael bridge. as we look at what's happening in the north bay. sonoma county seeing some pockets of heavy rain moving towards santa rosa and napa county and then also seeing a steady rain from american canyon down to vallejo and also into much of the east bay into the tri-valley. so, the isis going to is is goi for quite a while and concern of flooding as we look at the north bay. the area shaded in green, that is where we will have a flash flood watch in effect. especially for the burn scar area. the concern of debris flows and mudslides. we'll talk about the winds picking up as we go through the day and the wind advisory when it goes in effect in about five minutes. mike, you have a big crash on highway 24? >> we are continuing to follow that, kari. the update from chp is that at least one tow truck has arrived to help with the situation. the south bay starts to build and wet roadways all around the bay with the green highlighting and more traffic in the east bay through hayward and across the sa

a look at san rafael where we have light rain falling now. it is the north bay we're most concerned with, the flding today over the burn scars. the biggest concern or the time frame for the greatest concerns starts at noon today, goes all the way until 6:00 tomorrow morning. so that is quite a time frame, about 18 hours where we could have some debris flows off those burn scars. you can see the yellows out there. they're few and far between now but they will pick up. right now just a lot of rain and light rain across the north bay. and as we head into the deeper parts of the day, that will increase and so will the temperatures starting in the upper 40s this morning and all the way into the mid-50s by the tie we get to 8:00. that warmer air that comes in that increases the intensity of the rain and brings us the energy we need for thunderstorms this evening. east bay valleys starting off at 50 with rain. rain just continues all day into the upper 50s by 8:00 this evening. and on the peninsula rain all day today. and the temperature also increa

but all of a sudden, some heavy traffic here out of marinwood into san rafael. ething pops up i'll let you know but slow along that stretch. 34 minutes now to the golden gate. continuing onto the san francisco side of 101. more drive times coming up. james? >>> all right thank you robin. again that breaking news this morning is the earthquake that struck the east bay and here's video that a viewer sent to us, they were in a safeway when the earthquake struck. they reported the various items that got knocked off the shelf and that's pretty much the extent of the damage that we saw. all of it very minor thankfully. no major damage and no major injuries that's the better news to report. nobody reporting having suffering any injuries because of this quake. again it was a 4.4 earthquake. right around 2:40 this morning. right there in berkeley. and i know it was felt fairly widespread from santa rosa down to santa cruz and across the bay and onto the peninsula but everybody reporting it fairly light. so that's the good news we can report about this morning's earthquake

to the richmond/san rafael bridge. it's raining here and the roads are wet but traffic seems to be abiding by the standards nicely getting across over to marin county with hardly any delay in the westbound direction. san rafael is what you're meeting when you get to marin county and traffic is flowing nicely with some droplets on the camera. southbound 101, those taillights heading to the civic center. getting busier. i don't see any delays at all. here is the overall look of your traffic patterns this morning. a problem in the santa cruz mountains going on since 1:00 last night. it looked like it may have been cleared. it was a power pole down southbound before idylwild. a hard closure of the right lane. it looks like that may have been picked up. we will check and report back in just a few. >>> silicon valley transit riders will have a new high-tech tool to get on their ride. >> the transportation authority has unveiled a new mobile payment act. it allows single rides as well as express and day passes. >>> did you bu

another bound of showers moving in right through santa rosa, san rafael, san francisco and then it kindof makes its way through right around 8:00, 8:30, 9:00, 9:30 we will start to see some showers through the south bay. saturday evening we start to see the majority of scattered showers taper off nicely. if you notice the timeline it takes you all the way through saturday, saturday morning we are expecting clear skies, will catch a break from the brain but not by much because we do have a storm moving in saturday night into sunday. now, one last thing i need to mention as far as that high surf warning, through friday afternoon, so this is still very much in place for today's storm, strong rip currents, a pretty decent swell up there, up to 40 foot breakers are possible yet again for today. now let's talk about that big weather event that i was talking about in terms of rain totals. if you notice by saturday we do start off nice and clear for the most part, the majority of that rain will clear out. then if i take you through sunday's forecast you can see that third storm of the three tha
