cities. novato, and san rafael yell have both sent applications to the federal railroad administration to set up quiet zones near some smart train crossings. novato has completed the required 60 day public comment period. san rafael yell -- san rafael has asked for a quiet zone operation, for train operators not to blow the horn at some vehicle or pedestrian crossings. that is unless there's a hazard on the tracks or the train is leaving a station. the sonoma marin area rail transit is due to start service later this year. >>> an emergency fund for the bay bridge is running low on cash. now, the san francisco chronicle says when the fund was created in 2005, it had about $900 million but a variety of problems like corroded rods and other unexpected repairs we have reported have used up a lot of that money. the chronicle says the fund has about 68 million dollars left and that may lead to toll payers paying more for extra repair work. however, the metropolitan transportation commission says there are no plans to raise the bay bridge tolls at this point. >>> time is 7:23. new this morning, niss
