san rafael right here in san francisco -- we are looking at pockets of heavier downpours moving into half moon bay, highway gilroy. this is a level two system where we will see the rain heavy at times, thunderstorms, and the possibility of gusty winds accompanying thunderstorms with hail. a live look outside you can see how breezy it is out there with the camera shaking, so we have the showers throughout your morning commute, the chance for a thunderstorm and we will be looking at a drier day tomorrow. jobina: we begin with breaking news out of daly city. a fire has forced people from their homes this morning. this happened it just blocks from westborough middle school. lena howland joins us live from the scene. >> good. from what we can see from our vantage point this fire, is still actively burning. it has caused quite the scene for neighbors here in daly city. it caused multiple neighbors to be evacuated in the middle of the night and that evacuation can last for a few hours. still a very similar scene when that fire was actively burning. fire officials tell us they believe this may have been caused by an electrical valve blowing. this incident was so they had to evacuate at least half a dozen neighbors in surrounding homes. all other neighbors have been asked to shelter-in-place. >> we are let off, because we do not want to put that out. we have evacuated several houses behind me. >> fire officials further down the block a neighbor reported the cover to their electrical box being blown, off although fire ofarnot sure if these two incidents are related or not. authorities plan to be on longer as they are working together to get this fire out. we will continue to monitor this situation. jobina: now bac watch coverage. we will start in the east bay where there is more snow on mount diablo. snow was falling fast in the area. the snow shut down several areas in the park but it did not stop one family from enjoying the unfamiliar bay area snowfall. >> we came down a bit. the kids made some snow angels, made a little snowman. it was a fun day. jobina: if you are headed to the mountain today, be cautious of your driving on the roads. reggie: in the north bay the recent rain is causing erosion along some roads in the mill valley area. cascade dve.r the homeowner said he heard the first tree come crashing to the ground. >> the police department and fire department came out and did nothing. a guy and i met battery-powered saws, cleaned it up, pulled these lines back. reggie: no injuries or structural damage has been reported there. parts of cascade drive where hikers get access to cascade falls is close to the public for now. jobina: saratoga falls is pretty, but it is causing problems for drivers who are prepared. the cold, wet weather is a concern for the un-housed population. volunteers in san jose spent hours delivering supplies, including blankets and rain gear. >> we are at a point where you cannot take much more. it has been 2 or three months of solid, cold, wet, or both. the wind did this, and another flood did that. people are really suffering. jobina: advocates say some people living on the streets have been hard because lost shelter several times because of repeated flooding. reggie: interstate 80 at castle peak is closed to traffic this morning. closures over the past few days -- when the roads are open, chains have been required. getting over the mountains has been difficult for many drivers. chp says drivers have been showing up unprepared. at the check -- >> at the cars with improper tires backing things up. reggie: chains have to be put on the right tires for them to work properly. you conditions on demand 7 bay area app. jobina: happening today a of property owners will ask the alameda ssors to end the eviction moratorium. landlords say some tenants are using

san rafael on 101, sun peeking out there. and we're seeing a mostly cloudy sky over san francisco right now. we've started to see more breaks here. it was just a solid amount of rain and snow across the bay area earlier this morning. as we look at stormranger, some waves of rain coming in, still that snow coming down for those upper elevations. now you have to go up at least 2,000, 2,500 feet before you see that transition from rain to snow. then for parents of marin county, a little lighter, san getting a break from the rain. but we are still seeing it moving through 101 from novato to petaluma as well as heading over toward napa. so, off-and-on rain as we go into the evening but also a lot more in the way of breaks from that. we do still have the potential of additional snowfall in the foothills and over toward mount hamilton later on tonight into early tomorrow morning, as we get one last wave of this system coming in and a break on saturday. by sunday a new storm system comes in, starting at noon for much of the north bay, continuing to quickly sweep through for sunday afternoon. and then going into next week, we have off-and-on rain in theq2 forecast as we get these storm systems that are going to bring in additional rainfall in total between now and the end of next week, we could see another 1 to 2 inches of rainfall. so that's when we start to get those flooding impacts as well as mudslides. we'll be watching all of that throughout the next several days. marcus? >> than

low 50s. it's chilly with temperatures five to ten degrees below average. here we go with futurecast on this first alert weather day. it's a great tool when it shows how large the system is and how long it is expected to last. it stretches all the way up sacramento valley and down our peninsula in the bay area and even offshore into the 9:00 hour. it will sweep to the east with more systems backing it up into the afternoon hours. it will be less heavy into the evening tonight. hit or miss storms throughout the evening tonight and early morning hours tomorrow. that's when we see more showers sweep in. here we go with tuesday. it looks different but in the grand scheme it is still rain and we are expecting about an inch within the next three days. we do have snow in the forecast but snow levels are down to 3,000 feet unlike last week's 1,500. if you live along the santa cruz mountains or if you have to pass through highway 17 it doesn't look like we'll be having any issues other than rain in the forecast causing issues. snow levels are above the highway. keep in mind, heading into the next days we are dealing with wet conditions. the big issue is the thunderstorm activity this morning heading into the noon hour. it breaks apart into the evening hours tonight with more rain for tuesday. a dry break heading into wednesday through friday and more rain around the
