this happened at san ramon valley high school in danville this afternoon. kron-4's charles clifford joins us live from the high school tonight... charles do we know how this happened? well, this is just a tragic situation. there are a lot of unaswered questions but tonight students here at san ramon valley high school are dealing with the loss of one of their own.around 145 tuesday afternoon, students and teachers preparing for a p- e class in san ramon valley high school's pool found a 15-year-old male student underwater in the deep end of the pool. riley bergstedt was in the class, he says several students and teachers jumped in to help.sothe was in the deep end and they pulled him out of the pool and started doing cpr on him.another teacher called 9-1-1 and paramedics arrived moments later.sotpossible student in the pool. coco county is onscene with cpr in progress. the student was tranpsorted to the kaiser hospital in walnut creek but tuesday afternoon the school said that he had passed away. police are now investigating but have not yet said how or why

ktvu's allie rasmus, you're at san ramon valley now.the police and what are the students saying about what happened out there? >> reporter: well, first we want to show you what the scene looks like out here at the high school. the front gates around that swimming pool lined with personal handwritten notes, balloons and flowers me moralizing the young man who died. the friends and classmates identified him as ben curry. weeing show you upclose video. we had to move off of campus because class will start in about an hour. the teen's body was found at the bottom of the school's swimming pool about 13 feet deep. he was unresponsive. a teacher pulled the body from the water and performed cpr. he was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. school administrators wouldn't comment on what they know about what happened to the young man or how this happened but there are a lot of rumors going around. they have activated a crisis intervention team this morning to help students who may need grief counseling today. >> we will
