kris sanchez is live in san jose with a new study which was just released overnight. good to see you, kris. >> reporter: good morning, laura, the morning bell here at hoover middle school rings at 7:24 and that new research out this morning shows that if that bell were delayed students would not only get more sleep to better sleep. let's get to results out this morning. this is from the nation's largest children's hospital. and 8:00 a.m. start time would yield 17 more minutes of sleep per day which researchers found correlated with better attendiveness at school and better sleep at night based oj surveys of a thousand seventh and eighth graders in the mid-atlantic. we have reported on this recently as san jose unified students presented a pro and concession for parntents. sleep deprivation according to centers for disease control, a lack of sleep is correlated with risky behaviors like drinking and smoking and using drugs and lead to overeating and symptoms of depression. the new research out this morning will appear in the journal of school health. i will post a link
